I know some guys are psyched because their season is about ready to start, but I'm up in New England so I really don't start hunting for another two months, very end of April. But that's one of the cool things about this competition because it puts me in the spirt of the hunt sooner, even though I'm still buried in a lot of snow up here.
So anyway, I will only be hunting New England states this year, mainly MA but also maybe ME and hopefully VT.
We start the first Saturday of April. I mostly hunt National Forest so we have a couple of weeks.
Four more wake-ups and hope to hear some gobbling - no time to scout and will go to my normal public sit.
I will be starting off in the Florida north zone chasing easterns March 21st. Wasn't planning on starting until April 11th in Illinois but my 7 off falls on the Florida opener and I can't manage to stay home when I know I could be hunting.

I'm in a shutdown at work. Season starts the 14th. Not 100% sure what I will or will not be able to do this year. Going to try and slip some vacation in ....will have to play it by ear .

0 for 3 so far with no gobbling heard - looks like more scouting for me!!
Went to listen one morning this week. heard one at first spot and decided to listen at another spot on my way to work since it was still early. Stepped out of the truck and was standing near the back of it when a truck came by pulling a boat. He got out of hearing and I was just thinking that it should be quiet enough when I heard one right down the road. I was kinda looking and wondering just where he was when a turkey walked across the road about 150 yards from me. Then another one crossed just past it. The second was definitely darker so I'm pretty sure that was a gobbler. The first might have been a hen. I wasn't quite close enough to tell for sure.
