Title: bore sighter question
Post by: sswv on February 05, 2026, 03:38:31 PM
I've always used the laser bore sighter that fits in the muzzle end BUT, I'm thinking about one that goes in the chamber. anyone have real world experience with the chamber style?

thanks in advance

We bore sight hundreds per year and have always found the collimator style sighter the most effective. Just my .02

I have a cheap Amazon one I use to check zero on 410's with red dots. Works perfect and was only $13 a couple years ago

It will not turn off without taking batteries out but for no more than I need it that wasn't a big deal to me

I use a laser bore sight that goes in the chamber. Looks sort of like a shotgun shell.

Seems to work for me. I mark the rim of the "shell" (filed a notch) so it goes in the gun the same way every time. I don't slam the bolt on my gun with the bore sight in it...its an electrical instrument. The bore sight just needs to be seated in the chamber.

You can see the laser dot better in lower light, not bright sunny days. It also shows up better on a black or very dark surface.
