A full choke and a heavy load of lead 6's should get the job done inside of 30 yards.

I shoot a full choke with tss as my first shell and my two backups are lead 6's either way you go tss or lead 6's or both like me it'll work good

This is the only picture I have of the pattern. It shot high and right on this target at 41 yards.

A good quality sporting clays load with 7.5s will hammer them inside 30.

I'm looking at buying a few different brands of 3" 6 and 7.5 high quality trap and pheasant loads for this season. Most of my hunting is in the woods and shots are less than 30 yards

If it was me, I would switch to 7.5s. They have the same penetrating ability at 35 yds that 8s do at30 (1.25" in 20% ballistic gel). I would not push 8s past 30 yds.

Henry single gauge 20 with RSF choke. Same target. 8x12 target with 167 hits. Shell has a little less than 200 pellets in it.

For some reason we all got caught up in 300 hits in a piece of paper to kill a bird at 40 steps.
