Title: What do you plan on adding to your turkey hunting equipment this spring?
Post by: Tail Feathers on January 16, 2026, 10:24:59 PM
Me?  A few new mouth calls.  I bought an ALPS turkey fanny pack that may see some time this spring.  That's about it for me, there's only so much you can carry.   ;D

What are you adding to the overgrowing pile of gear this spring?

About the same for me. I'll make a few mouth calls and that will probably be it. I really need to get rid of stuff rather than add any more. Most of my money spent nowadays is for licenses and trip expenses. ;D

I gotta protect my Boney bottom on these long sits. I'm thinking a new cushy for my tushy. Or maybe, I can just choot em real fast.  :funnyturkey:

New socks, couple of new performance long sleeve T shirts and I need a new bino harness for my other binoculars.  I'm good with everything else.  I might look into a Burris ff3 for my backup gun since these 48 yo eyes aren't what they used to be.

Added a couple calls at Unicoi.

Other than that, nothing that I can think of.

I'm a pretty simple,  streamlined operation.   ;D

Going to try a new setup.  Bought padded Molle belt.  Putting call holders/pouches on the belt.  Hoping to get away from the vest.  If it works,  :jackson: ; if not, it will be another closet queen.

Another 20 gauge, preferably an autoloader if a Mossberg SA-20 tactical turkey ever shows up at a reasonable price.

I would think so..... You have to replenish everyday. I know I wouldn't want to reach into my poke and pull out a stale Little Debbie's Honey Bun! Certainly not after shooting a "Honey Bun Gobbler"!

I don't need anything else.  I was tempted by the Ol' Tom sale they had this week, but resisted temptation.  ;D

At the end of last season I decided to find a good small pot call for tree calls, purrs, etc. was able to get 3 or 4 good ones, probably carrying Bill Lyman's single slate most of the time.

Added a Remington 870 20ga youth with a IC 562 and Winchester TSS 9s.  Have not patterned this combo yet but hoping for good things.  Tired of lugging the Mossy 935 around the hills and hollers of WV, and I am getting old.
Also added a new intertube seat from Miss Glenda Green this year,  seems nice and may make my old bones sit just a little longer or at least thats the hope

Going with a new Stoeger M3020 Turkey with a Vortex Viper on top. First year with a red dot. Got both Mossbergs redone in new Hydrographics courtesy of Jerry Ethridge.

I'm only adding a few mouth calls and boxes of shells.  Everything worked fine last year and I was too busy with work to make it to Unicoi.

I'm going to be doing the opposite. I'm going to get rid of stuff I don't use. Calls/strikers that need to be in the woods instead of sitting in a cabinet, camo that don't fit, boots I don't wear, etc.

Something I considered, but can't start the cull. Many of my calls were gifts, I can't part with those.  The other stuff, maybe the classified on here would be a good place for that.  Hmmm.

None of my calls were gifts, so there no guilt in cleaning them out. I listed some calls and strikers in the classifieds today. Not sure what I'm going to do with the camo. I have several sites I can list it on, but shipping it will suck. I use Pirate Ship, but it's still going to be expensive.

Ain't that the truth!  I've got a TON of turkey artwork, bronzes and sculptures, and so many hunting accessories that I would like to put up for sale but the shipping costs for just about everything is UNREAL! Having to add shipping in a price for something really impacts the ability to sell anything.  ::)
