Title: Firewood to HenBox
Post by: TheBigSnood on December 11, 2025, 01:10:47 PM
Last year we dropped a big ash tree. This summer, while splitting rounds for firewood, I kept noticing these wild worm holes running through one particular call blank.

Had to turn it into a turkey call... because obviously.

The ash + emerald ash borer tracks were basically begging for it.

What do y'all think—(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20251211/5f072ed921f9feb241ce608cd2561add.jpg)

Nice looking call. I have seen those tracks just under the bark and have thought exactly the same thing. I had never seen one with the wormy holes in it though. Pity to see the ash trees all go that way though, remembered cutting them down and splitting them for firewood as a kid, always loved how they smelled when they burned. I remember the axe bouncing back up if you did not hit them just right too. Sure was glad when dad got the hydraulic Wood Splitter. Sure wish I could still do that stuff again, never thought I would miss it but I surely do.
