Just had 7-8 Jake's / long beards come strolling through while I was up in the saddle bow hunting whitetail. Some with shorter 3-4" beards and a couple with longer.
To add insult, they were across the property line and fall Turkey doesn't open again until Monday in WV

Love to see it but also hate it haha

Always nice to have a little action in the deer stand. Should make you feel good about the Spring too.
It's always great to see turkeys while hunting in the fall. I personally will only pull the trigger on one in the Spring.
It's always good to see turkeys anytime.. During the fall it is pretty special...

I'm with ya on both accounts. :icon_thumright:

I won't lie, if it was in season and one got close enough and I felt confident enough in the moment, I would have tried to put an arrow in it since I was bow hunting.
Out side of that, I haven't tried fall Turkey and probably never will. That's my spring adventure and whitetail are my fall.

I would hazard a guess that the majority of fall turkeys killed in Indiana in the fall are incidental kills by folks deer hunting.
I would shoot one in the fall if I were specifically hunting turkeys. I don't hunt in the fall because of the overlap with deer season. If I ever had the opportunity to hunt them with a dog I'd be all over that.
