Title: Please educate me
Post by: Notsoyoungturk on July 30, 2025, 08:29:27 AM
These calls sold on Ebay for $1577.  I recognize the Loftis Chatterbox but not the other push pin, trumpet or scratch box.  Which call or calls drove the price that high?

It was the trumpet ... That's a Turpin ,,, Tom Turpin --  Very collectible and valuable

Steve Turpin still makes them and lives in Memphis Tenn

I figured that may be a Tom Turpin trumpet but how does the purchaser know? Just by the looks?

I would hope so. It would be a bummer to pay that price for an imitation!

The trumpet sure looks a lot like a Penn Woods trumpet from the 1970-80 period.  I sure wouldn't pay $1500+ for the lot.
