Since NO smart turkey guy with a wife or girlfriend would admit in an open forum TOTAL lifetime turkey equipment expenditures.... ::)
What is the approximate cost of your "average day" rig ??
That being everything you tote around the woods with you.
Me ??
Gun, shells, binos, box call, friction call, diaphragms, trumpet, stool, belt pack, camo clothing, boots, assorted miscellaneous small items.....
Approximate guess is +/- $1700

Every day rig for me is about 675. One trumpet, 4 mouth calls, 3 longbeard xr's and my mossberg 835 I bought new 10 years ago for 400$

And forgot about 1.50 worth of baby wipes and approximately 100$ worth of camo

All in walking into the woods about $2500
Depending on which gun I decide to take that day...$3500 max I'd say

You can tell who hunts with cheap guns..... ;D
Depends on what trumpet I decide to carry.

Amen !!
A guy's rig worth could be highly altered by carrying a Farmer trumpet or a Cost box on a particular day.
Avg day around $2600. At times +/- $3000 easy.

Well, since i have one of those high priced fox vests, it has gone up considerably. Running the quick numbers and including my gun and 5 tss shells and snacks. I am right around $1,800.00 all in with everything I will ever carry. Quick hunt or crappy weather it's more like $800 all in.
I try to make sure I carry less than a 100 dollars worth of stuff, just in case I have to make a run for it hunting with Crow and tal. With these two you never know if they have permission or not ...

If you had bought that 59.99 Propiels Pocket Fisherman and some weighted treble hooks like TAL suggested, you wouldn't have to go over the line to retrieve your gobbler.
I have more than 100.00 dollars in my hi-tech sneakers so I can run faster and jump higher.
I couldn't give 2 turds what some woman thinks about what I do but prob little more. I use good binos, and non Chinese guns. Maybe a more if I bring some camera gear
Gun $550. Purchased 1.5 years ago
Optics $275. Purchased 1,5 years ago
Shells $75. Purchased before the hunting season
Calls $30. Purchased 13 years ago
Pants $20. Purchased about 10 years ago
Layers for top and coats, etc $100. Purchased 3 to 10 years ago
Boots $35 Purchased last year
Hat $8. Purchased 15 years ago
Rain coat $125. Purchased about 25 years ago
Face mask $5. Purchased 14 years ago
Food and water $6.95. Per day
Gas $3.
That's roughly $860 plus ammo purchased strictly for turkey hunting. The rest is stuff I use for hunting other critters as well.

Well relatively speaking, that was only faster and higher than Ole Massey—-which isn't exactly the highest of bars to shoot for.
Gun and boots being the most expensive part of it all, probably $1400 or so purchasing it all new.
Buying it all new to replace today, probably $4000. Mostly gun and boots and I got a deal on the boots vs what they cost these days.
Depends on which gun I take but low side would be $800 if packing light and if I'm loading the vest up and packing binos with a higher level gun easily $3500.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :turkey2:
Dang Yoder409 you should of made this question like one of those 2 truths & a lie games. Choose somoene to be it then see if we can spot who's lying. I really wish I was lying because the answer is a bit telling. I think I have a problem! :help:
HIGH SIDE - with most expensive shotgun I have (20ga $900 & red dot $250), gore-tex rain /cold weather gear, mountain boots, gaiters, binos, bino pack, vest, mutliple custom calls (2 pots, strikers, box, trumpet, tube) garimn in-reach, etc could be up to $3,500+ :z-dizzy:
LOW SIDE - carrying a single shot 410 & red dot, normal camo, rubber boots, binos, a few calls, minimalist vest and a few misc things... if I'm being honest still probably about $900 ::)
If we are talking about current values and not what I paid then:
My old beat up REM 870 with camo tape and 20 year old fiber optic sights has very little monetary value...$200?
My clothes, boots and completely modified Ole Tom vest, are similarly worth little...$20.
Maven binos idk $300 maybe.
The calls I have on me can vary but maybe I'll carry two boxes, two yelpers, two pots, three strikers and a scratcher or pp...
$500 -$12,000 😁
If you ask what I paid for everything I carry then I can tell you honestly, I don't really remember.

:TooFunny:
Cool thread, I'm ~$1750 based on new prices.
Solo, about $2500($2000 on the gun), with the wife 3K. Thats a blind and decoys, not counting her personal gear. Z
cheapest I think ive ever walked into woods and come out toting a bird would have to be in the $500 range (cheap gun, couple shells, boots/camo, 1 call, thermocell, gloves, facemask)
average day would be more like $1200 if I had to purchase all that stuff for that day. Alot of the items I carry have been used many many seasons, some I got absolute deals on, some were gifted to me and alot of them have been heavily modified to fit my needs/wants so they couldn't be replaced off a shelf
A high quality bourbon satchel loaded with a few vintage Wild Turkey mini's, a Fox Vest, Glenda satchel loaded with the finest calls in the country, a pricey turkey killing setup, some TSS shells, comfy camo and boots.....
What a great question but a horrible thing to think about.
Going cheap and light, the gun, camo, and diaphragm still over $1700 with a fully loaded day; vest and calls depending probably pushing $6500 or more.

100 Dollars....really! You got 50 or 60 dollars worth of Honey Buns in your Glenda Green Satchel!
Affinity -$750
RMR-$400
MG Vest-$65
Guide Pants-$75
Magellan shirt-$40
Calls- $100
Hiking boots-$150
Binoculars- $450
Shells- $50
Misc- $50
Everything but my gun, vest, calls is used for other hunting and hiking. I use stuff til it can no longer be repaired. Everything gets sewed up after season.
I'd say a wee bit under 2k, gun and boots being the most. Like TF said.. Take care of your investment and be good to your feet.
If I count all the states, I carry 2500 a year in license alone.

No, I carry an extra bag for the Honey Buns ... :TooFunny:
Current gun and optics with choke $1500
10 shells $37
Camo $ 150
Boots $ 154
Calls? Nunyurbizness😂
Too much time has passed since I started hunting turkeys for me to have an accurate $$$ number (1982). I don't hunt out of state, though I buy ammo, clothes, gear, and calls every year. I'm probably spending at least $300/Lb. for turkey meat.
Jim
Wow, what a way to put it in perspective, I have never really thought about it. I have always figured "I NEED it" so it really doesn't matter.
Packing my gun 4K, my sons gun "I paid for it" 4.5K.
Had to buy a new truck to avoid rentals, Does that count? It wasn't cheap.
