Title: FWIW: My 00Buck Pattern Results in 3 Shotguns
Post by: 3" 870 Shell Shucker on August 02, 2011, 12:22:57 PM
Using Primos XFull "Dead Deer" Buckshot Chokes, and Winchester Grey Box 3" Magnum 00Buck in an 870, a BPS, and a Mossberg Model 500:

My patterns at 35 Yards had All 15 Pellets in 14.25"-15.25" Circles, and 9-10 Pellets in 10" Circles.

The RemChoke and Invector are both .690

The Invector+ is .700

All 3 Barrels are 28".

are you going to try a longer yardage ? I would like to see how they do at 60.

I would like to see some #4 Buck through it...the benefits of the #4 over the #00 are ALOT more pellets for just a small size reduction (.24 vs .33) but I have 54 pellets in a #4 and only 18 in a #00 (using 3 1/2" 12 gauge)...deer I have shot with #00 Buck usually run a bit...the ones I have hit with the #4 Buck have rolled over stiff legged...might want to try it unless your state law won't allow it...

I tried some 2.75" and 3" #4 Buck through the 870.  My 10" Circle numbers at 40 Yards were about the same with either 3" 00 Buck, or #4 Buck.  Of course, the Total 20" Circle numbers were a little better with the #4 Buck at 40 Yards.

After many patterns with the 870 now, I've gotten 8-12 Pellets in 10" at 35-40 Yards, with 00 Buck, or #4 Buck.

should do the trick

I use #1 and #4 buckshot in my shotguns most of the time on dog drives
