Title: Rain
Post by: Old Timer on May 07, 2025, 08:08:42 AM
It has rained the last 6 out of 7 days here in upstate ny. I did catch a couple windows the opener and mid morning hunt. Some counties are seeing some flooding. To correct the discouragement lm cooking pulled venison. Should be a winner with family. A daughter and husband are up from NC. Good day my friends.

Hopefully you will get better weather soon... Nothing wrong with a little cooking time ..

Good luck and keep chasing, turkeys still have to be turkeys ...

I was lucky enough to get my bird in upstate NY opening morning. Since then I think it's been all rain. I bowhunted the island this morning and not a gobble. Tons of birds around but it's just not coming together yet. Good luck the rest of the season. Plenty of time left.

I have rinsed my rain suit and washed my turkey gun 6 straight days in southerntier area we have roads closed and lot's of others that are in bad shape, heck even some of the stat land roads are closed due to wash outs. I was able to kill a nice 2 year old opening day. Keep grinding is all you can do. Good luck to everyone still hunting.

Can't stand the rain. I just got back from Indiana where the "omega low" was hanging out. I got one good day with no rain from Saturday to Tuesday. Heard very very few birds and got zero. Locals told me it had been raining since Friday. Hate the rain but I still give it a whirl it just usually doesn't pan out

Conversely, here in Coastal Oregon, where it rains most of the season, it has only rained twice with weather warm and sunny the rest of the time. I have seen very few turkeys compared to when it is rainy. Over here, sunny days are for BBQs and rain is for killing turkeys.
