Title: Replacement for my old Charles Joyner box
Post by: Sullikd on May 05, 2025, 01:22:09 PM
I have an old Charles Joyner box call that was bought for me by one of my dads buddies when I was younger down in Chatom, AL when I was just getting started.  Long story short, it has never left my vest for almost 30 years, nor have I ever bought another box since.  I love this call, but I'm ready to retire it and find a replacement before it gets damaged.  I'm curious if any of you have any suggestions on another one sided box that will have a similar sound.  I have no clue what type wood this call is made up of and have seen several on ebay occasionally and pretty sure he only made one model.  The only calls I've seen that look similar are the lynch fool proofs.  I would like to go more custom than that but with the same look and sound of my Joyner.  Thanks!

Not sure what a Joyner box sounds like.  But, the Lynch Fool Proof is just that.  Fool proof.  Great call !!!

Custom-wise..... Marlin Watkins makes a great one-sider.  Billy Barker makes a great one-sider.

You could, likely, give a number of custom makers a phone call.  Run your Joyner call and see what they can offer as a sound-alike.
