Title: New guy/Trumpet collection
Post by: BullTom on March 18, 2025, 10:57:51 AM
I have been a long time lurker here, and I finally made an account. Just want to introduce myself and share a photo of my trumpet collection.

Started hunting turkeys in the mid 90s, in upstate NY with my old man when I was around 5 years old. I followed him around the woods chasing gobblers until 2003, when I was old enough to tote a gun on my own. I killed my first gobbler that year, and made 2 calls from his wingbones. I still have, and hunt with one of those wingbone calls, 22 years later.

I fell victim to the trumpet craze a few years back and started my collection with a Greg Gwaltney snakewood. Pictured here is my current collection (March 2025). Looking forward to growing my collection and sharing it here with you all!

My goal for the 2025 season is to yelp up a bird with each of my 7 trumpet yelpers. Planning to hunt KY, VA, PA, NY, CT, Mass, RI, VT, NH and Maine.

Welcome aboard. Good luck this spring. I'd say you have quite a nice arsenal of trumpet calls there.

Tanks everyone! Ive become pretty obsessed with trumpets. Especially now that i can play them a little bit, and aplreciate the differences in call styles, woods, lengths, etc. It's a lot of fun. My wife is starting to show a little interest in running them aswell!

Here is that wingbone I made with my old man in the spring of 03. It's not much to look at, but it's pretty special to me!(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20250319/2e108e67e9bd1897d526052e9b68b384.jpg)
