Has anyone cut their stock to fit a youth hunter? i have a .410 that I am setting up for a child for the kids i take. Did you do it yourself? any tips about it are appreciated.

Stevens makes a compact model 301 in 20ga (don't know if they make a 410) with a really short stock and a 22" barrel. Mine killed 2 gobblers last year. I'd either buy one of those or see if I could find just the stock
If you buy the compact model you'll need to get it drilled and tapped for a sight base. It also isn't camo. But some tan, black and green rattle can fixed that for me

Yes, I cut my daughter's stock a couple years ago to fit her. I actually had to cut it a couple times, but I saved the drop off's. You can just install a new sling stud, limbsaver slip on pad, and you're done. I've epoxied one of the sections back on already as she's grown. Doesn't look the prettiest, but it's a $199 gun and nobody but me and her sees it, and now it fits her. I was hesitant at first, but it's a $199 gun, so even if she got 1-2 years out of it, throw it away and get another one. I have 2, I bought myself one when I bought my daughter's, so I figured I'd chop hers til it fit, and once she outgrows it I'll just give her mine.
If you did for some reason care about the looks, cut the stock, shape a 1/8"- 1/4" thick piece of wood to match the new size of the back of the stock and screw it on, then get a grind-to-fit limbsaver recoil pad. Lastly, screw in a new sling stud and your all set.
