Title: Seasons Greetings
Post by: FullChoke on March 05, 2025, 11:36:36 AM
What!? It's March already! I know that in Mississippi their Youth season commences this Saturday and the Major leagues begin a week after that. We've got several team mates who will be champing at the bit to hit the dark woods soon as well as those who are heading to Osceolaland.

When do you anticipate slipping down a trail in the quiet indigo morning listening intently for that rattled response to your owl call? Then you point and it's game on.

Soon?  ;D

Still hope to head to FL next week. It will now be WE instead of I. I have no complaints though. I'm trying to talk my wife into trying for her an Osceola while I still have a decent place to go. I've got a couple Osceola's and each of my boys have killed one.
We will open up MS on 3/15. Good news is I can hunt every day. Bad news is I have hardly anywhere left to hunt where I can ride my buggy. I'm going to be very slow and short distance on these crutches.

3-17 in Fla, probably my last try. Maybe a surprise trip to Tennessee in April if we find a nice place on our way back from Florida. Then April 28th in Maine and May 1st in NH. Maine may be a pipe dream as they posted a huge tract of land I hunt, yes it is where the white bird came from. People are our own worst enemy. People tearing up the land, and posted pieces, with ATV and dirt bikes were the last straw. People blocking access and parking on peoples lawns, just pure ignorance. This spot was close enough to the bordering states that there a lot of camps in this area. I am a non resident in Maine now but saw an awful lot of other NE state plates around this beautiful area that were not as nice as we should be. Many memories of this place. It really is a shame. Good luck and God Bless. Z

MD starts 4/18
WV starts 4/21
PA Starts 5/3

Got skunked in MD and WV last year but I think I can change that this season.  Last year was my first going to WV so I think I have a better handle on it now.  Time will tell I guess.

No worries AF, I think your bird actually cemented our team win.  :funnyturkey:  Z

Yeah, it was a nice bird just when we needed one.  I'd like to win with less drama this year though. Ha Ha

I knew we needed a good bird and I was having so many close calls I was starting to feel the pressure.  I have a pretty long track record of killing birds in PA so I knew it was going to come together sooner or later.  Glad to be the closer but willing to hand that off this year. LOL

I believe that I will be starting May 7th. You have to choose 1 week to hunt and get 10 additional days at the end of May if you still have an unfilled tag. Ours is a ways off yet.

Ditto for me.  Was in MD over the weekend and got some good intel.  Will make annual trip to WV to hunt with my son as some point.  PA is home.

Florida was fun but no bird. I lost my best spot in Maine( where I shot the white one ) due to irresponsible ATV riders, but I may still try it on April 28th. NH is May 1st. Good luck boys and rip em up. Z

All my seasons begin on April 12th.  I'll be trying for a trifecta, three birds in one day.
