Going to give the hiking boots with gaiters a try this year. I'm not too worried about snakes, but hate wet feet. We have several area with tall grass, so I was looking at different gaiters and came across the Spring Legion gaiters out of Brandon, MS. Anyone have any experience with them? Look pretty nice.
Never heard of the Spring Legion brand, but they do look pretty nice. I've been using a cheap set of Buckwells or similar name (can't remember the exact brand) off amazon for a couple of years and they have held up great on the waterproofing for $20. I had never given the hiking boots a thought due to dew and wet legs until I had read about using the leg gaiters here on OG and now have no plans of using rubber boots again unless it is a monsoon.
my friend has them and kenetrek brand.
i dont think he liked the spring legion ones.
They seem to be basically the same as kenetrek to me. I don't use them a ton but I have no complaints

I got no report on the Spring Legion ones. I got a pair of Outdoor Research ones through work last year. They have the Insect Shield treatment and are pretty nice.
If you're in to the Made in America movement there's T and K but, like all things made by small shops it'll cost you. They're about $180.00/pair. They're warranted lifetime and they offer a military discount.
I tried the Kenetrek and hiking boot deal a couple years ago and it just ain't for me. I have a pair of kenetrek in the olive green (?) color if anyone is interested in a set. All I ask is that whoever pays shipping and they're yours. They've been in my closet for at least 2 years I know. Might have been used 5 times, if that.

Isn't spring legion basically a TikTok brand? Are any of the biggies like Sitka or kuiu snake proof or briar proof? I run into a lot of cotton mouths!
I like mine, they work as they should and are lighter and cooler than kennetrek's in my opinion.
I'd love something about this weight but snake bite proof, so far I haven't seen it.
They're all warmer than not wearing them and not as waterproof as rubber boots. I've yet find an all inclusive solution for turkey hunting. When it's cold I wear stuff that keeps my feet warm and when in snake infested places I wear snake boots, etc.

I would like to take those if available, with my wide feet I end up in sneajers the last 3 years because I can't find boots wide enough that aren't insulated.

Gaiters won't do you a lick of good with sneakers. You need at least a 6" high GTX boot or they don't make sense to wear.

Spring Legion is a group of guys out of Mississippi that started a podcast a couple of years back. They've ventured out into merchandising now. They know how to kill turkeys and their podcasts were pretty good. It now seems like half of their podcast is devoted to pushing their merch though.

I have never heard of either company to be honest, I will see if I can find them here in my area. Thank you.
Kuiu either model..The Yukons are tanks heavier built good for earlier in the year..Not a fan of the first lites...Cant say a bad word about the kenatreks but in about 2/3 years they wear out...I am curious about the crispi brand ones, maybe next year.
I like both my kuiu sets a lot tho..I wear gaiters in deer season because the warmth it adds as well..The main main reason for gaiters to me is not tearing the bottoms of my pants up

Not that I know of. I have the Turtle Skins and have worn them the last few years with my Crispi's - when I don't have to have rubber boots. My buddy has a pair from Dan's that he seems to like pretty good.

The would help keep the legs dryer anyway. I want an 8" boot but all I can find are those hiking shoes that are like hightop sneakers. I have been wearing waterproof socks.
I wear Kennetrak out west, and turtle skin gaiters here in Georgia. I wear the turtle skins over my rubber boots as well as with regular boots. I just picked up a pair of Dan's snake proof gaiter's that were on sale. I haven't worn them yet picked them up mainly for going through briars in snake country.
The T&K Hunting Gear gaiters are made in the USA and built to last. They're not cheap but they're worth every penny in my opinion.
Ended up getting the Kenetrek hunting gaiter. Camo version is quiet. For my shoe size, 11, they recommend a large gaiter, but I was afraid they would be too big for my bird legs. My calf size.. 15.5", purchased the medium size on sale, and they fit great. Hopefully they will perform as advertised.
