What's everyone's thoughts on this "critter" fella? He is, in my humble opinion, trying to exploit our love of the wild turkey and the reputation of so many great callmakers that have dedicated their life's work to perfecting their craft (minus Frank Cox, don't get me started).
I love capitalism but I wouldn't make my living on another man's back.
I personally can't stand it and wish folks like him wouldn't hear a gobble for the rest of their life. Thoughts?

For those of us that don't know... What are you talking about???

I'm open to opinions and always willing to listen. Maybe I'm wrong but this guy was soliciting existing callmakers, pressing folks for calls, hanging out at funerals soliciting offers for calls. Etc.. I personally witnessed him pushing himself on folks at Unicoi to buy calls for the sole purpose of flipping a profit. It's like the NIL in the caller community, dude's a cancer.
Example: Albert Paul has recently made two calls for me for my walnut Neil Cost "old hen" replica collection for less than $400 total. This guy is trying to sell a single call from Albert for $500.
$18,500 for a matching set is unreal. I'm a poor country boy and don't even see how that is possible

Personally, I don't care how much he charges. If someone is dumb enough to spend exorbitant money on a tool that is collecting dust, then so be it.
Is this his collection? Wonder how he cave across so many nice calls?

I guess my question is how much did he pay for them? Asking price and market price are two different things. He obviously has a nice collection, and it seems like he is treating it like a card/collectible business. Just my opinion.

Nothing illegal about that. All of retail businesses are built off of that exact same model. Why sell products if you're not going to make a proffit?
Let the market decide.
Also, I will never wish bad on anyone.
Lastly, life is too short fellas. Get out and listen to the whip-poor-wills.
I know someone who sold some calls to him. He paid what I would consider better than the "going rate" for calls. Now, that he has amasssed a collection, he is offering those rare, hard to find calls at a big premium for those that are willing to pay and want immediate gratification.
Like Spurs2Bgobblin said, why anyone would pay a premium for a call that you can still get from the maker is beyond me. I have several of Albert Paul's calls and I wouldn't trade them for the world. Part of the joy of those calls was spending the afternoon with Albert and his wife. For some of us, it is the joy of the hunt for the call or the interaction with the call maker. For others, it is just about owning something regardless of the cost.
He got several off this forum. I sold him a call at what I considered a fair market value about a year ago because I was up on a call makers list and needed $ for new call.
The call I sold he has marked up $1000 and is on website
If had known he was flipping calls I would not have sold it
Word on the street is that he's rubbed a lot of people the wrong way
But not sure who would pay what he's asking for calls? Maybe someone but I bet he doesn't sell many

Duly noted and recorded.

This guy doesn't want to sell anything. He just wants to show off what he has. He doesn't even know enough about the calls he has to even write a listing. He tried and failed miserably. He was claiming some of the calls were 1 of 1's and limited editions but they weren't. He is a mess, good luck to him & I won't be a consumer.

I agree. Hard to sell a used call for a premium price if you don't even know what wood it is made from

He has one that is a 1 of 2 that I would have to think long and hard about if it was 70% of what it is listed for.
He goes around buying collections for 50 cents on the dollar.
Prices calls 3-5 times over what he paid. I just don't understand the reasoning.. dudes already rich.

It is probably similar dealings that made him rich.
Sounds like he is a bit lacking in moral aptitude... But not business sense. Hopefully he gets what he deserves (whatever that is).
Never met the gentleman, so I will reserve my opinion. I have some issues with the pricing but then again I don't have any real perspective on it, just what I have heard, by some I trust. Anyway, they are his calls, and it is no different than what many on this forum have done with pricing on some calls, just on a larger scale.

Which is capitalism........ i.e. "the American way".
It is up to HIM to set his business plan. And it is up to the rest of us to decide whether we support his business plan or not. ;)
How many NON-turkey call businesses can we name that have insane mark-ups on retail goods ?? Yet, even, some of us, likely, buy into them.
Like I said before...... We are ALL able to vote with our wallets.
