Does anyone shoot/load a 2oz #9 TSS load for a 20 gauge?
If you going that big shoot a 12. No need in anything more then 1.625. I always ask (How dead you want it?)
Then ask you (How dead is dead?)
I'd imagine the pressures would be more than likely unsafe

There is a 2 1/8 load for a 20. It requires dental work post shot
Uh huh I've seen some of those loads blow barrels, hulls get stuck, chokes shot out more than once to name a few. Did I mention the pressure might be high?
I load 12 gauge shells but I don't do any experimenting. I load the recipes that I was sent and found what shot best for me and thats what I load. I don't know anything about pressures other than what I was told about the pressures for my load. BOSS shotshells is advertising one and thats the first 2oz 20 gauge load I had seen. I see Rocky Ridge ammo has 2 loads of 2oz for a 20 gauge, Epic shotshells also has a 2oz load. Seeing different companies that offer this makes me think its safe? Or is it to much of a risk due to pressures and messing up a gun?
I've shot the 1 7/8 and 2 1/8 loads as well as numerous loads with less payload in the 20. I currently shoot a 1.75 oz load in one gun and a 1 5/8 is load in another. The recoil is slightly less in the 1.75 to be honest but all loads heavier than that would put your d..k in your watch pocket
Got to be hard on a gun designed around a 1.25 oz load.
Keep your shots inside 40 yards and it won't be necessary with the 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 ounce loads manufactured today. Dental work, busted shoulders, gun barrels, chokes, injury and death aren't worth it. :z-twocents:
I shoot a Foxtrot 1-7/8 oz TSS load in my 16 gauge which is a 2-3/4 inch load. The recoil is very tolerable. It patterns as good as any one of my 12's.
For myself I have never seen the need to shoot a 20 gauge 2 oz load. I have used 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 oz with good success... Everything has limits .... IMO

I saw that Boss makes a 2 oz 20 gauge load when I was looking for shells for my daughter... I would not shoot such a load, much less let my child do so...
A 20 gauge is known for less recoil due simply to the fact of having less payload. But some of these light-weight 20 gauge guns will kick more than most 12 gauge loads with standard loads, and put a super hot payload in the gun, and the recoil is going to be unacceptble.
I used to shoot 2.0 oz loads of lead in my 12 ga. Once had a bird on a steep hill that I had to shoot above and to my right, and after firing, I went rolling down the hill with the bird I shot. :goofball:
A 7/8 oz load is standard in a 20 ga. and a 1 oz load is considered "high brass," or a hot load in 2 3/4" with 1.25 oz load being the standard (in lead) for a 3" 20 ga. Those 3" loads have more punch in my light 20 ga., than 3" loads in my 12 gauge (at least to me). I want nothing to do with a 2 oz load in any gun, much less a 20 ga.
