Being retired I still enjoy building calls when I'm feeling up to it. I'm also trying to learn the proper way to make Turpin boxes. Learning is the fun part of the hobby. I've had a few bodies and or lids in various stages of completion for some time now, so every now and then I'll pick up where I left off on some of the builds. The three pictured here were worked on over the last month or so and I'm really happy with the end results. Macassar/teak, snakewood/holly and curly hickory/cedar. I'm keeping the hickory/cedar for myself, and the others have been spoken for. I'm looking forward to another cool down so I can start work on a few more. Thanx for the look. Those are beauties Bill. What do you have in the countersunk screw holes on the lids?

I made my decision on the sound that I like, and this call has it for me. I also was wondering how the curly hickory lid would work out on a box and will say I was very pleased which also played into my choice. All three sound great but that cedar really spoke to me and that's after I messed it up on the first tuning. It's actually shorter on the sound board because of the usual cedar issues of loose grain lifting off and or breaking. Worked out well in the end.
Oh my.......very nice work!!

Most impressive.....I'm sure the new owners of the two will be pleased!!!
Thanx for the very kind words. The drive to build the Turpin's correctly continues as I have a few combos in mind for the next batch if this heat and humidity would go away.
