I am searching for a darker wood with good character. What would you use?
Bonus if you share a pot call picture of your choice.
Here is the story: I have a local guy whom got me into turkey hunting back in my youth days. He has started making pot calls and I would like to support him as a way to thank him for getting me into this addiction. It would be cool to go full circle and get a turkey with a call from the guy that got me into the sport.
Thank you for your suggestions.
Padauk, walnut or cherry
Walnut is the classic choice.

Thats some nice stuff
Walnut is pretty
A buddy of mine made me a purple slate in a Wenge pot and it's absolutely beautiful and one of the best slate calls I've ever heard!!
There are some crazy good looking calls in Cocobolo. It is a redder wood but definitely darker & with lots of character.
Shedua dark with good character.

Wenge is a staple of my calls, tough to beat an African Blackwood too. Z
