im really like the limited run pinhoti crystal this year....running it with JLH frog...mahoe and carbon
I primarily use mouth calls and push-pins, but when I do use a pot call, it depends on weather conditions:
Clear/Calm day: Slates are my go to pots, ie Cody Spec 1 or World Class, Platz Maple Slate (Snakewood or Black Night Striker)
Windy/Wet day: Screamin Demon Crystal, Brad Roberts Bronzed Glass (Weatherproof Carbon striker, Snakewood if dry)
Crystal (Twisted Sister) and a one piece purpleheart striker (Halloran)
I'm torn right now. I am really digging the ceramic surface... but crystal is near and dear to me. It just sounds so good.
My Purple Heart pot / crystal surface - my 1 piece dywood striker
My Wormy persimmon / Ceramic - my 2 piece dymondwood striker (maple top)
Crystal and gray slate are my favorite surfaces. Hard to beat a Halloran twisted sister or crystal mistress. As far as grey I like my platz cherry and Cody world class.
Crystal (Crystal Mistress) and a one piece Purpleheart striker from David Halloran
That striker really brought the call to life.
It's too hard to say one is my absolute favorite but I'm really digging my Lights Out 3in copper pot with ossage striker. It's the bomb.
Mark Cornelius Calls, Shedua Glass over Glass is a great call
Soft talk, copper with a carbon striker.
General purpose, slate with frogwood/dymondwood striker.
Windy or need to throw calls over them yonder mountains, titanium with a striker made from a harder wood (e.g. snakewood or similar).
My go to is a john Sinclair red slate over glass walnut pot, ipe striker, not sure if it is the best but if there is a turkey around he gobbles.
