Title: Premium Non-Toxic shotgun shells?
Post by: Marc on April 12, 2024, 09:52:32 PM
I am in California which requires non-toxic ammunition for ALL hunting.  I am getting to the end of my Hevi-shot rounds...  Shooting 1 3/8 oz or 1 5/8 oz of Hevi-shot....  Full choke.

I have no problem switching to TSS but I do not want a 2 oz load...  I also am not excited about a duplex load.

Who makes TSS or a Hevi-shot type of load in 1 3/8 to 1 5/8 oz loads?

I typically shoot about 3 rounds per season...  I am in the field with 3 in the gun, and 3 in the vest.

Has anyone had issues getting any of these loads to pattern well?

Foxtrot makes a 12 ga 2.75" load with 1 5/8 oz of shot.

Same said foxtrot.  For what it's worth I shoot the 2 oz 2 3/4 foxtrot and the 8x9 duplex gives me the best pattern and it will kill a lot farther than 40 yards.

Oh yeah it's probably going to say out of stock on the website so email or call Brice and get your order on the build list.

This load from Foxtrot made me park my 20 gauge, and go back to my old 12 gauge single. Missed carrying that little gun. Straight 8s thru a IC . 660.

Have you looked at Nitro ammo? I noticed the last time I looked they still offer hevi shot but there expensive not as bad as tss. I like there tss 20ga 9's!

I may have some hevishot at home stashed away. The public I used to shoot it on has been devoid of turkeys for over a decade. I can check when I get home.
