Title: Opening day in SC
Post by: KHNC on April 01, 2024, 02:03:29 PM
Not much to tell. The birds were completely quiet on what was a calm , warm and cloudy morning in the upstate of SC.
Fresh sign in leaves on the trails into my property. Lots of scratching, tells me they should be around. Back to work at lunch. At my home in NC, had a longbeard and two hens in the field in front of the house. We have a week long youth season opening on APril 6. Regular season not until April 13. Hopefully, by some miracle, he will still be around. Love to hunt right in field out the front door. Going back to SC saturday.

Went to SC again this past Saturday morning. Heard one gobble, off my property. Got as close as I could, but never heard it again. Got back to NC and the longbeard still hanging around my field. This morning, had 3 deer and a lone hen out there. NC season is this coming Saturday. Hoping he survives a week of youth season. Going to keep an eye out for him.
