I'm looking at picking up a Stevens 301 in 20 gauge and I'm wondering if it's possible to mount a scope on the base that comes with the gun?
The scope I'm thinking of using is a Hawke Vantage IR 1-4x20 with a turkey dot reticle.

I know a lot of folks use a red dot on the Stevens, but I figure the Hawke would give me the best of both worlds. I'm just not sure if I'd be able to fit rings on the Stevens mount.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Had to try a few ring heights out of my box o' rings to clear the hammer...barely. I can also see the bead for close encounters. I did have to add a spur.
I will say this barely worked. Bottomed out the elevation. This is a 4x Simmons ProDiamond for reference.
Thank you, I appreciate the reply!
Curious how the Hawke scope worked out for you. I want to do the same thing to my 20ga 301. Astygmatism in my rt eye causes regular red dot to flare pretty badly.
