What kind of music do you listen to on the journey whether near or far? Really depends on my "mood", but it's going to be Bluegrass or Old Country. Ever once in a while a little Southern Rock.
Have a good one, Bo

Classic rock
Some type of rock. Hard, Classic, grunge. Some talk radio.
Think I may try an audio book next trip.
Old Country and Western ... these people knew how to sing ...
I mostly listen to podcasts these days. True crime, Fist Full of Dirt, and the Turkey Hunter podcast.

Hmmm. On a long trip...I run through every genre of music you can think of. 14 hours in a vehicle alone and it gets interesting. I've been known to even listen to some preaching too.
Mostly though..good ole rock n roll. Pink Floyd to be exact. Throw on "The Wall" and rock out for an hour and a half or so.
Metalcore
Lithium or classic vinyl.
Don't know why, but I am a rocker. Can't stand listening too my best blue tick pup getting run over of three truckers sleeping with my girlfriend.
I "would love my blue tick puppy" and do love my girlfriend.
That music makes me want to aim at a tree with my truck!
Sorry for the commentary
I rarely turn the radio on
Thelonious Monk
LOL, I should added......my radio has been broke for ten years in my truck. Only time I have a radio is when I go on a big trip and rent a vehicle!
"Spring is war". Col. Tom
I paint my face blue and crank up some hard driving bagpipe music.
and some times for long trips I get audio books from the library
Audio books
A mix , rock and roll , enigma , progressive , blue grass , some country , some folk , southern rock , classic rock , christian , old hymns , modern hymns . preaching , chill out tunes , seem like more and more of DEAD SILENCE . Alone with my thoughts or talk to the lord , go back and forth on what woods to hunt . Speakers blown in truck so its been awhile since good tunes , , Are we there yet ?
My wife calls my mix schizophrenic. One minute you are listening to Young Jeezy and Akon sing about slinging drugs. The next is some Gordon Lightfoot, then you may wander over to Garth Brooks before coming back to Eminem.
I also listen to alot of podcasts. Cleared Hot is my favorite followed closely by locked on big 12.

For me it's Classic Rock and or some Metal.
People should drive on the interstate by the music they listen to.
If you listen to Lawrence Welk then drive in the right lane.
Middle lane is for Easy Listen and Country music and the left lane " The Hammer Lane" is Classic Rock or Heavy Metal music! Don't be in the RocK and Roll or Metal lane Welking it, get the heck over!
Oh if ya all listen to Jazz that's just a Hot Mess and just cruse in the right and or middle lanes.
Bagpipes! Really....well I would have to relegate those people to the back, way back country roads!
Right now the radio is only working when it chooses to so not much. Before it died I would start listening to Mr. Lovett Williams CD's a month or two before the season started and also on the way hunting the first week or two to help me keep cadence in my head. If music it would depend on how tired I am, if tired I want something hopping so I do not crash the truck. If perky then I love my Christian Bluegrass, Bluegrass, Classic Country (Pre 1990's) Rock, Blues, Opera, Classical and so on. Anything but Rap, Jazz or Big Band pretty much.

Skynyrd
I talk over my attack plan to myself, (just kidding).....quiet ride up in deep thought. If it's bad weather, I'll pop on the news....
If I even turn the radio on at all anymore, it's usually talk radio of some sort. I think i've
heard every song ever made about 10,000 times, just noise to me now. I miss Art Bell, he
always had some nutty stuff on that was fun to listen to. Kept me awake and entertained on
long nights driving.
Classic rock, classic vinyl and Lithium

:TooFunny: :TooFunny: Yep,...pretty much sums it up! Unfortunately, way too many folks don't know which lane they're supposed to be in! ::) :angel9:
Depends on my mood. I really just can't handle rap or modern country music. Once Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and those Florida Georgia wusses showed up, it was downhill in my opinion. I do have a theme song or three that I use on those occasions that I feel extremely cocky and am getting ready to enter the ring so to speak. Sometimes I feel it is only fair to let the gobblers know that hell is headed their way. But that is GOAT level stuff and is not recommended.
Mostly old southern rock. But I do find myself listening to Seminole Wind (John Anderson) during turkey season. I'll also listen to some Third World (96 Degrees In The Shade) simply because I've been fishing in South Florida a time or two in my younger days with the late Bunny Rugs.
Bruce Springsteen

Come on! You can't tell us you have theme songs, and not let us in on what they are!
If you're coming to bring it, the folks here deserve fair warning.

Well I agree with you about the Liberace lovers in the left lane,
But, Old Son you just never heard the right king of bagpipe music
Some of those songs make you put your serious face on, forget the left lane, you'll be pioneering down the median strip
Don't really have theme songs. Just some songs I really like when I get that feeling that a gobbler is gonna die. Hank the 3rd "from a ghost to a ghost" comes to mind as one of those songs. Now I hear the boring 20's have a theme song. I am pretty sure to the north of me, I heard zelmo trying to get the band back together and sending out the call. Here is what I heard. https://youtu.be/PYW2RQEZITM
Whatever pops up on my playlist, anything from Miley Cyrus to Slayer and anything in between!
My least favorite is the so called country that is popular, there are some quality country performers, just not much radio play, Colter Wall is quite good!

The thought of Crow driving down the highway jamming to Bagpipe music while wearing a kilt just isn't a pretty thought! I am going to need counseling to rid myself of that vision!
A kilt would be a step up in material compared to the breechcloth and leggins I normally hunt in.
I'm with Greg, I like the old country & western. Don't listen at all to the new country that you hear rap creeping in.
I listen to some bluegrass, I like the older mt. music a little better than the hard driving stuff though.

AMEN ... Crow ... I like that Hee Haw show music ... Now that's really music ... Hee Haw was one of the best shows on TV....
From heavy metal to old country.
Another bagpipe guy! Usually mixed in with some 80s and onwards Country, Classic Rock, Eminem, Childish Gambino, some Canadian and Gaelic folk music, a few podcast and a little bit of Ska. Pretty much anything except talk radio and Metallica.
I don't usually travel very far to hunt, so I don't have time to listen to much music. But every single time I get dressed in the pre-dawn for hunting I hear the same song, over and over again, in my head--"The End" by the Doors: "This is the end, beautiful friend... my only friend, the end "The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on"
I like music, but, for some reason, I don't really enjoy listening while driving. I very seldom turn on the radio.

The 10th Legion and The old Pro on audio book come out on the really long trips. I think 18 hrs from MN to northern Ga was enough time to cover both and than some.

Truth.
Few years back, Crow stepped out of the woods as the early morning school bus was passing. Dang sure hope those kids all found good therapists.
They are traumatized for life!

I didn't know Old Pro was available on audio, very cool.
I have several of Col. Tom Kelly's books on audio, there are always a couple in the truck thru turkey season, makes a trip go by fast

If I'm headed out of state then I listen to old time radio programs. If it is near I don't listen to much music anymore.

Ha, I thought I was the only one that listens to Gordon Lightfoot. He was before my time, but I've been listening to him since I was a kid. My parents are huge fans. His greatest hits are a go to on many of my long drives. I listen to a lot of Sam Cooke as well. I too love classic or "old" country. I'm all over the map.
I'm also really into woodsy or earthy music. It's kind of hard to describe. Bon Iver, Bears Den, Gregory Isakov, etc. This is nice easy listening stuff that fits well with the woods and nature.
First thing I do is put some Metal on and crank it!
Sometimes I'm waking up real early to get to a spot and I need to make sure I'm awake haha
This can range from Metallica to some more modern real heavy stuff.
After about an hour I'm normally awake enough and I'm somewhat of a cruise control on my trip, and from there I will switch it up to probably a Turkey podcast.
On really long trips I'll start again with some metal or 80s rock like Motley Crue, then go onto a podcast for about 3-4 hours, switch it back up with maybe some country once I'm about 30 min from my spot I like to just shut the radio off and give my ears a little bit to re-adjust from the music.
I guess the short answer is Metal and Turkey Podcast. Every now and then there's a random deer hunting podcast thrown in.

I like both kinds of music, country and western. :)
I prefer older country and classic rock when I travel. I refuse to pay for satellite radio so I usually listen to what I can find or practice my mouth calling. :)

I think it was Zorro's team last year that had Puff the Magic Dragon as a theme song
it should of been "Puff there goes the magic gobbler, done got busted again"
One time coming out of the woods I heard some weird music, snuck up to the edge of a clearing and there's "paboxcall" sitting on the ground tied to a tree (I think he had dozed off hunting as there were 7-8 decoys spread around including 2 full strutters)
He was in the center of a drum circle session and these hippie chicks were dancing around playing his boxcalls in time with the drums, he was smiling and purring on a little slate so I just backed out of there, too many hippie chicks in one spot has always made me nervous
LOL.
Truth is if Jerry Garcia is involved, or any derivative of Jerry through the years, its probably playing on the truck sound system.

Too many hippy chicks in one spot is definitely a red flag!

Hahah Master of Puppets is good for practicing cutts!
Calls come out after the rock music... sometimes I'll just use them while listening to podcasts. I do have a few turkey CDs download to my phone. So I can switch to that!
