I've noticed several posters mention an affinity for pushpin calls. I used them a lot for many years, but have managed to lose or break a couple of my favorites and have pretty much been disappointed in most of the replacements.
Some I don't like the sound, some will cluck but are almost impossible to purr with and one of my favorites, an old, cheap Quaker boy will stick if you depress the plunger a bit too far. That one, I have tried sanding, even using silicone on the rod with the same results.
Anyone have a favorite that does it all?

I'm waiting in line for one of Shannon's calls. Hopefully, I can get one this year. I don't have one yet but everyone that has used them speaks highly of them. He is about to start a new batch. There is a discussion in the pushpin section.
A good push pin is deadly. I agree some are better than others but again i think playing then has a lot to do with how it wants to be played just like other calls. A push pin is another awesome call to have in your bag of tricks. Several builders make a good push pin you just have to do your research. Shannon has a couple of great videos on how to play his push pins on Youtube and this forum...
I have a Loftis Chatterbox that has a half moon cut out on the paddle to allow running it similar to Shannon's design. It produces nice, soft clucks, purrs, and yelps.
I hoped to pick up one from Mike Lapp at Unicoi, but I could only go Saturday and they were all gone.
Shannon's is still the benchmark, but have not been lucky on getting one.
Have a Winky Hicks I bought a few years back...great when they are close and you are not well hidden.
Here's my Top 10 List:
Shannon Kelly (Old Gobbler)
Jonathan Payne
Mike Lapp
Tim Bullock
Dick Kirby Teak Limited Edition of 250
Knight & Hale Witchy Woman
Lynch Pushpin (Wild Turkey Model, and Regular Model)
Winky Hicks
Loftis Chatterbox
Ike Ashby Chatterbox
Honorable Mention: Jim Shelby Persimmon Hill Calls
These are some of the best ones that I use, Shannon's being number 1 for sure.
Ever heard of the Do-Ral turkey calls?

I have one. Out of PA if I remember right.
Chaffee, NY
Tom thanks for that info. I have two or three of the calls on your list and hoping to pick up one of Shannon's calls. Still can't find a Witchy Woman but it's a matter of time.

You are welcome. Eventually Shannon will cover the needs of our forum members. It's a daunting task, but he works hard to get them out for us......
