Ive seen lots of topics on wanting the "magic number" of pellets in a 10" at 40,but what do you guys like to see in a HUNTING load percentage wise in 10" and 20" circles at ranges from say 20-30-40yds?I know some guys like a little tighter pattern than some, just looking for a general idea.thanks.
at 5-60 yards my IDEAL % would be
30" circle 100%
20" circle 75%
10" circle 50%
I would like 50% in the 10" and 50% in the 20" at 40.
But that may be impossible.
30% to 50% in the 10" is a good goal.
i shoot for 40% in the 10" at 40yds, i've found that is a nice compromise between too tight/too open

I tend to agree. the 30" circle means nothing to me personally. If I can't hit the bird at 40 yards inside of a 20" circle then I need to go practice. "Personally" I prefer no less than 200 in the 10" @ 40 yards with any 3.5" shell and no less than 175 with a 3" shell.
Just My .02 but I want as much of the shot in a 10" that I can get. If you are counting on getting a bird by hitting it in the 20" or 30" than I think You should do a better Job of aiming or hold off for a better shot. If you know that your POA & POI are the same you have done your homework and you WILL HAVE A DEAD BIRD. If you plan on missing, DON"T SHOOT...... Shoot a turkey gun like you should be shooting a deer rifle, Aim small and miss small.
Like I said, Just my .02. Marty aka Mag10
