Do you all have any recommendations for a vest for hot weather. Was hunting in Florida this weekend and my Limbhanger vest was hot and got heavy when soaked in sweat. It was 85 degrees. Would like to carry a water bladder if possible. Besides my Limbhanger I also have an MO Super Elite 2 but it is not as open. Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
I used to use a super elite 4 by alps, but found it pretty hot on warmer days. I got a Grounded vest now and can tell it will be cooler due to its openness, plus it is water bladder compatible
Alps long spur, is what I use if it gets hot, here in NY mine doesn't get much use
Real hot vest stays home! I use an RNG 200. If I needed to haul some stuff for an all day hunt or mountain hunt I use a hip pack.

South FL native here, I like a backpack personally. I can put my extra clothes in it and I just have my binoculars hangin off the front of me. About as cool as you can get. Also bladder compatible.
Another option you could consider is a Glenda Green satchel... as many will tell you they have done away with the hot vest all together and use her hand made turkey satchel. It's waterproof material and made in the USA...
x 2 on the Glenda Green satchel. I was hunting an Alps Long Spur and it easy to ventilate on hot days. Had to unzip the fanny pack part because it was bulky. Just purchased a Glenda Green bottomland minimalist. It holds everything that my Alps vest would. Flip it over my shoulder and take it off when I sit. Easy access. Throw it over my shoulder again if I have to run and gun. JMO.
For those using the satchel, what do you do for a seat cushion? Thanks.
Apparently, I have gotten old and soft :). I love my turkey chair. I have the uncanny ability to pick a tree that has a special knot or root that really likes to introduce itself after about 30 minutes of sitting. If I think I am going to move a lot. I have a seat that will strap around my waist.

She makes a nice seat cushion that has the tire inner tube with a waterproof cover ...
I always put my vest up and switch to Glenda's satchel when it get really hot here in GA.
I started using a Knight and Hale Run and Gun 100, same size as a large bingo harness, this year and like it alot more than my vest. It's a very light chest rig and I clip a bottle to the side, while great for hunts if staying out all day I'd throw on my backpack as well. I live and hunt in central Fl

Ive been thinking about one of these for days when it is blazing hot in FL or I dont need as much stuff. I have the HS strut version and dont really like it. How is the 100 as far as fit and quality?
I have the 200 and its been solid so far but im a big guy and it doesn't fit the best. Biggest problem I've had with it so far is getting somewhere and my pot calls have came out of the holders and I have to track them down
The fit is good the straps that go around your core are elastic so they're pretty comfortable. I tried posting a picture but it wouldn't let me. I carry 4 diaphragm calls 2 pots 4 strikers 1 box call and 1 hawk call also gloves and facemask fit well but I'd say that's about the max. I will clip a thermocell or water bottle on for some walks in but unhook them when I set up. As far as calls moving everything stays tight and quiet, the magnets seem to do a good job and I prefer them to zippers. This is the first season I've run it so time will tell how it holds up. For a size comparison if you've ever used the xl kuiu bino harness it's almost identical.
I run the same setup but I have the kifaru water bladder pack attached to it so I don't use the original straps. I had to remove the male buckles from the chest pack straps and swap them for the female buckles on the water bladder pack. It is AWESOME. Got a 2 liter water bladder in the pack, baby wipes, tums, ibuprofen, granola bars, turkey tote and room for a light jacket or rain suit. I ran the 100 by itself last year and wasn't sold on it because I couldn't carry the "essentials" TP, water and snacks. I also took the speed seat off of my old cabelas tactical tat'r and rigged it onto the water bladder pack so the seat functions just as a seat on a regular turkey vest. I will try to post a picture
I found a Cabela's Minimalist turkey vest and been wearing it more and more especially in hot weather this. I also have a couple RNG-200's but mainly for taking others and my kids when they go. I'm a Cabela's Tactical Tater guy and went back to them after trying about every other vest out there over the the past 20 years.
Really liking the layout of Minimalist though and prefer the material over the RNG's. They don't make them anymore but if you can find one I highly recommend it. Worn it in temps into upper 80's, but if it's hitting 90's I'm ditching the vest and going satchel.

They are still available. My local Dicks had half a dozen of them on the rack and they seem pretty easy to find online.
