I rotate guns. The older and better looking I get I tend to favor older and better looking guns and calls. This is my model 42 and original Gibson call. Yes they are heading to the woods.

Huntsman muzzle loader. Added a tru-choke last year. .670" with TSS and its a nasty gun.

Assuming that is at forty yards, that would seem to me to be a pretty amazing pattern for a muzzleloading shotgun.  Impressive. 

Yep 40 yards. It was doing less than 1/2 that before having it threaded for the tru-choke. Huge difference. Patterns are actually better than that when I remember to swab the bore with bore butter after loading. Picks up 40fps and the pattern is more consistent.

Cool guns. I hope you enjoy yourself with those. Just remember when in doubt add a hair more powder.

Basically a shot cup made for TSS, a extra gas seal. 2oz of TSS shot and buffer. In the Huntsman I use 90grs 777. I use the same stuff with 100 grains 777 in the encore. I can take some pics. I can also post the recipe for those interested. I used it to kill my muzzle loading record book bird in my 209x12 Encore.

Heck of a muzzeloader pattern

That huntsman sold new for 59.00 . I have seen them bring over 600.00 not too long ago. Weird how they have a cult following. I have most of the series. 45-70, .44 magnum, .58 muzzleloader and 12 gauge. I still don't have the .45 Muzzleloader.

What do you estimate for muzzle velocity?   Given how light those guns are, I would think the recoil from 2 oz of shot would get your attention.

All of them kick but the Huntsman is really fun! Its light and the hard butt plate add to the fun.

Yea it's kind of fun though. It doesn't seem as bad as my +P .416 Rigby though. That thing hits you and just keeps coming.

if Daniel Boone had a limbsaver recoil pad he would of used it

I have been getting stuff ready. Had to put an exhaust manifold gasket on my Rodeo. Its all nice and quiet now. I have the Huntsman, Model 42, Model 12, 870 20gauge, 835, 870 28 gauge and Lefever 12 gauge ready. The rest of them are going to set this year out.  So far I am taking a Riley Corder Glass over slate pot, a Mark Cornelius Slate over slate, a Sway Cornelius Glass over slate, a Matt VanCise ebony / Walnut box and what ever else tickles my fancy before opening day.

It gets more milage from my wife taking it into town to grab milk than anything. She loves that jeep.

Only new thing that I have for this year is a NOMAD vest that I hate and I'm currently making a ceramic pot call to replace the one I lost in the swamps of Florida.

I can't bring myself to buy a new vest yet. I think I am going on 12 years with the one I have. My boy outgrew his minimalist vest so I have it for backup. So many of them seem to be  built more for guys who want to pack the kitchen sink.

Nice looking jeep

I'm sure that the latch came open and my ceramic pot call fell out.  This Nomad vest seems like it weighs 10 pounds empty and I even took the seat pad off of it.  It even comes with a suitcase handle on the back so when you pass out from exhaustion, someone can drag you out of the woods.  LOL

My old vest, the zippers have all failed.  It was light and made for pot calls.  If needed, I could pack 6 in it and still didn't weigh much. 

I got a new pair of camo crocs.  They're used, but new to me.

Absolutely, have the scars to prove it.  Even put a rear naked choke on one, while naked. 

Well I just picked up an old tom time and motion easy rider vest. Not wild about the material used but it doesn't seem too cumbersome. May use it when the weather warms up and just give one of my buddy's thats just getting into turkey hunting my cabelas vest.

I've been using an Easy Rider vest for a couple of years now and am reasonably happy with it - seems better laid out than my older Ol Tom vest and the shoulder straps are a nice improvement. The Easy Rider borrowed a lot of ideas from the Bob Dixon vest. Wish the seat cushion magnet on mine was a bit stronger. 

Only really new thing for me this year, other than a couple of new trumpets, is a new pair of boots.  Retiring my Danners after 10 years and bought a pair of Crispi boots because that's what the cool kids are wearing and they are a lot lighter than my Danners.  Really like them so far, but I'll have a much better assessment after I get back to New Mexico in a couple of weeks. 

 I bought a TideWe vest this year. It's pretty similar to the Cabela's Tactical Tat'r, but it has a frame like the Alps vest. I didn't particularly care for the frame, so I just took it off.
I tried it out a couple weeks ago in Florida and one thing that I did really like about it is the thick seat cushion and padding in the back. It's comfortable even when staying set up for a long time. Pockets are not great, but they work. It is definitely a little heavy, so by the time I got it loaded with all the "stuff" that I think I need to haul around....it is very heavy.

Years ago my first vest was one of those old 10x/NWTF model and for a few years I thought that it was pretty awesome. Over the years I've tried many different ones and honestly I just gave up a looking for the perfect vest. As long as it holds my gear pretty organized and is fairly comfortable...that's about all I expect.
