I have a older 870 SuperMag with the hard rubber butt on it, was wondering if the newer SuperCell pad will lessen the recoil much?
I'm sure it would be a improvement.

Big Time!!! :camohat:
It is a very good pad at reducing recoil. I have had them on several guns. I have one currently rigged up on my Bps 10!
Yes, it should definitely help with felt recoil. They have gotten very expensive in the current market though.... last i saw they were going for 70-80$ on ebay.... also look into the limbsaver recoil pads.
Thanks for the info, I actually had one after I went through all my odds and ends, it is installed now and hopefully will help!!!
I speak from MUCH experience.
I bought a 12ga 3.5" 870 Express Supermag first or second year they came out in the late 90's and eventually replaced the rear standard non-TH synthetic stock with the black synthetic Remington OEM thumbhole stock featuring the Remington propriety Supercell recoil pad.
I can tell you after well over 100 12ga 3.5" turkey sells down the tube since installing the new TH stock it 100% definitely makes a difference in felt recoil well worth the expense, and I am about as recoil proof a guy you will ever meet, but 12ga 3.5" 2oz of #5 shot gets even my attention when shooting at turkey targets and not turkeys themselves.
IMO/IME an upgrade well worth the cost.
I have one on a 7mm Rem mag and it feels like a .243 ...IMHO its THE best pad on the market. Problem is they aren't being made anymore and can't be found all that easily.
It reduces the recoil on turkey loads like a dream !
Significant reduction
The versamax shotgun comes with and even thicker pad ...not sore what it's compatible to but it really works well
Is it better at recoil management than a limb saver to fit the 870?
Great recoil pad. Have one on my shurshot stock.
Good luck finding one that hadn't at least tripled in price... :camohat:
