Anyone who owns a remington 870 sps max gobbler or 870 SM, I need some help.
I also own a max gobbler but unfortunately my gun did not come with a drilled and tapped receiver, although it was supposed to according to the press and specs sheet. I ordered this from the USA and I live in Canada so sending back to remington is out of the question.
I'm really looking to get the receiver drilled and tapped exactly to factory specs.
I'm looking to get my receiver drilled and tapped by a gunsmith for some optics and I would like to ask if possible if anyone has a spare minute to send me a photo of your tapped receiver ( i noticed there is some owners of this model and other 870 Sm's) and , if you can either give me the measurements of the drilled threads (or even the measurement to the center of the first thread from the the edge of the front receiver so i can mark my first hole).
I appreciate your time if anyone can do this, If there someway I could return the favor I definitely will, just let me know.

I thought about having the receiver tapped on my super mag but went with a b-square saddle instead. The scope holds it's zero and it was cheaper than the gunsmithing work.

I would much rather have it drilled and tapped. I used a saddle mount for a season or two. A few times when it was cold and my hands were dry, the recoil from the gun caused the mount to cut my hand. Not bad but after a time or two on the range it hurts a little. I did seem to remedy that by wearing a rag wool glove while shooting.
Any competnent local smith should be able to drill and tap it. It is either a standard Weaver base. Either a Weaver 62 or 429M not exactly sure without looking it up. Shouldn't cost more than $100 with the base. Locally it runs closer to $50.00.

Bad Grizzly thanks for the measurements, much appreciated, looks like the 429m weaver is used for the 870 sm and 11-87 as those measurements line up with the mount's holes. I'm assuming thats where the first hole starts on the 870...if anyone else wants to add their 2 cents as well.
i do my own. weaver 419 or 417 base just make sure its behind the barrel lug. i use 8-40 screws.less than 20.00 in drill bits & taps.
