Title: Choke question
Post by: btomlin on March 03, 2021, 07:55:02 PM
I bought a .665 extended choke and installed in my escort.  The choke is seated in the barrel but there is a 1/16" gap between the end of barrel and start of the thicker choke extension. When I compare factory chokes to the aftermarket one, the factory one is shorter from threads to choke end.   Any concerns?  I didn't know if the 1/16" of the thinner portion that isn't supported by the barrel would be a weak spot.  I don't recall an extended choke having a gap like this one.  Likely the gun...

Is it an Indian Creek whole?  They state on box there may be a gap.

Yeah, if it's an Indian Creek I have a gap on mine as well. Doesn't affect seating and still shoots perfectly fine.

Carlsons.   I remembered I had a set on their extended chokes in a franchi o/u.  They fit flush in the O/U but have a gap in the escort also.  I can jus see a smidge of thread sticking out.

I sent Carlson's some photos.  All good.  my factory gun chokes are just a tad shorter he said, but I'm good to go and no issues.  Now I just need to do some testing to make sure it isn't too tight.
