Title: Mesquite (Flamed) Trumpet
Post by: gergg on December 24, 2019, 12:14:35 PM
I found some unique flamed Mesquite blanks, decided to try it out on a trumpet....looks/sounds/runs good to me. Mesquite is a pretty dense wood, the sound to my ear is similar to Rosewood.

Nice looking trumpet. The more I see of Mesquite the more I want to get something made of it.

Thanks gents....First time messing with Mesquite for trumpets, I am going to make myself one though as I like the tone from it. I am also going to make a box call from a larger blank I have, will be interesting to see how that turns out.

For sure, will do.....I am planning on making a couple boxes this weekend. I've built many before, just gave them to friends and family.

I have a box call from Noel Gonzales that is made out of mesquite. I think he specializes in mesquite because he lives in Texas. It's got a unique sound for sure.

Thanks Greg.....I have never messed with any stains on trumpets, but it might help bring out the flame in this wood, Nah, I like the natural color/tones....lol
