Title: A couple walnut crow calls
Post by: DeWayne Knight on June 13, 2012, 10:49:24 AM
Before I turned my first turkey pot, I turned a couple crow calls to play around with the tools and lathe and get familiar with them.  These are my third and fourth crow calls, with guts I got from River Mallard.  They are both Claro Walnut from California.

I personally like them both, but the second is my favorite.  I'm going to make a couple more along the same lines and tweak the design/shape a little.

Both very nice, but the second is my favorite as well. Looks like a fine gunstock.

Thanks for the compliments.  Banded Spur, I have several more blanks from the same billet of wood.  Also hae some fiddleback/tiger stripe walnut that should produce a beautiful call...
