Title: CZ 920 with Carlson’s .575
Post by: ChesterCopperpot on March 03, 2021, 07:47:26 PM
Slowly turning this dove field gun into a turkey woods gun. Patterned four different loads through the choke today (only choke I have for it) and the HEVI-13 #7s definitely were the best. Also shot Long Beard #6s really well, but too tight up close for my fancy. Anyhow here's the 20yd and 40yd patterns. CZ 920 with Carlson's .575 choke and 3" HEVI 13 #7 1 1/4oz. Real even pattern all around but delivered right at 100 in the 10" at 40yds, so roughly 33% of the load.

Neat little shotgun.
Shoots just a bit to the left. Looks like at 40 pellet count would be higher in the 10" if shot was more center.

Definitely shoots left. This was off handed with a bead. Held slightly right but still lost some of the pattern. Thinking of adding a rear sight or a reflex. It's certainly huntable but could definitely be better.

You could do that. Or sit down . turkey seat up against tree like you might hunt.

That's the load and choke I'll be shooting through my (new) SX4. I bought it last November and still haven't shot it. Our weather is shaping up and plan on killing paper next week. Thanks for posting. Don't see many loads on here except tss 9's and that's not a legal load in Iowa.

I've had real good patterns out of my 12s and this 20 with HEVI #7s. Real even, forgiving patterns. Don't get the numbers of TSS, but it's a very killable pattern. This gun also shot Long Beard #6s really well at distance. Was too tight up close for my liking, especially with a gun that shoots left of POA. Good pattern nonetheless. Right at 100 in the 10" with those as well at 40yds.

Need to come up and right a fuzz with the reflex but shot some Apex #9 through it yesterday and the 40yd pattern was impressive. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210703/7c8750d7e7dc2d98592445de0deac416.jpg)
