Title: How do you spray your finish on pots?
Post by: Bustabeak on March 17, 2024, 06:42:39 PM
So, I'm not a custom call maker yet, I hope to be able to one day when I get a bigger place, but I purchase some pots from a guy unfinished. I have been finishing them with tru gun oil but it's fairly time consuming. Then I glue them up and send them out. What's the best finish to use on pots and the best method of spraying or applying that finish?

If you have a Lathe you can do CA (super glue). I have also use spray lacquer, polyurethane or Zinser Seal coat. The Minwax Spray Lacquer dries the fastest of the sprays. I have not found anything faster than the CA though.

I don't have a lathe unfortunately.... We live in a small town home now. But hopefully when we get a bigger place!

This is what I use.

I use PolyAcrylic.   Cleans up with hot water.  Excellent finish.
