on ebay, a pot call when for $600.. it was from a very well know call maker ,,, also it was brand new , not a older one
Which callmaker lol. I couldn't do that, I have a bunch of really good calls. But all mine have been hinted and if I got them since last season they will this year. I would throw up if I lost or broke. $600.00 call.

X2 and i would cry if i lost 40 dollar pot call ...
Wow! I thought $100 was expensive for a call, way to rich for my blood.
Was it *the* call run in a competition?

Why so discrete about the call maker? I bet MDTom bought it being the #1 fan and all....Lol.
I was told the call was auctioned for a good cause though and the proceeds are to be donated. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201220/0e0df57c32c76c14519186bb67c26f00.jpg)

I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. That's funny!

nope not me but it makes me wonder just what I have down stairs!!!! With what I have and at the price I could probably buy a new truck!!!! :TooFunny:
out
Paul needs to start selling his used under garments. His fans are as passionate as Beetles fans. Good for him.
I mean, I like pot calls and all, but geeeze......!!!
Some of these comments are really sad and are prime examples of why I hate these forums. You keyboard warriors out there kill me. Most of the time I keep my mouth shut but this is one of those times I just can't. It's a sad day when we live in a world where a good man is criticized for doing a selfless deed for someone. Paul did this auction to raise money for the family (wife and two small boys, age 6 and 4) of a close friend who recently tragically passed away. It's the first call he's made since his daughter was born last January. He was originally going to keep it for his daughter, but decided to help out a family in need. The comments on shipping cost, him bidding it up, etc, are total BS and pathetic. I hope you all have a merry Christmas.

I like you normally do not comment on posts, but I think you have to re-look at your comment regarding the forums thoughts on Paul Platz. This forum regards him as one of the best pot call makers in the business. I myself finally got an opportunity to purchase one second hand. It is one of the best sounding calls I have. No one here would criticize Paul for the good deed he did with this charity call. God bless the fact that he raised money for a needy cause. Sorry I had to comment, but the criticism of this forum hit home with me. God bless you and your family.....

yes i agree, they sale wood every day please go get some and make one or more since it so easy, the keyboard warriors it easy just go turn a call out. If you don't have a positive statement and don't make calls you will never know how sharp the keyboard cuts.
Sorry if I offended anyone all I said was I couldn't pay that much. I am glad it is going for a good cause. Good on Mr. Plants for doing that.

I dont think Mr. Corder took offense to your comment. I think he is referring to the comments about Paul bidding up his own call and those about shipping. I have dealt with ebay and I'm pretty sure you add shipping costs up front before you post the item. Also, if we wanna complain about money, think about how much ebay and paypal skimmed off that transaction, about 13 percent if I'm not mistaken. That adds up quick, no wonder Elon Musk has so many rockets and satellites, lol.

So are you saying you want some of Paul's under garments?
Last I checked, you scooped one of Paul's calls for $330 on eBay. Seems to me like you got a good deal, and that you happened to be the most passionate fan that day!

There's a big difference between $300 and $600. Merry Christmas though!
Wow I've never seen a pot call anywhere near that high. I am glad to hear the money went for a good cause.
Never been able to understand why some people get upset over what someone else pays for a turkey call. I'm sure who ever bought it only paid that much because the money was going to a good cause.
I have no problem with it, was shocked by the initial price before I knew what it was going for.

I agree.
A very well known, sought after callmaker, auctioning off a call for a fundraiser....I would hope it would bring a good price. Heck, anyone that thinks $600 is a lot under those conditions hasn't been to many auctions or fundraisers.
Just as an example: I remember when at a State chapter banquet 30 years ago, a Rob Keck wingbone went for $1200.00.
god speed to them
I can't spend $600 for one call, but good for those who can. There are other hobbies that are way more expensive than that! Just sayin
the only pot I would pay that much for is the kind that comes from Columbia :z-dizzy:
