Title: Buice, Prudhomme, Pedelahore, or Cox
Post by: Jakeman on March 28, 2024, 12:53:49 PM
To the people who own some from a couple of these guys if you had all 4 with you, who's would you pick up and play. Maybe some other guys I didn't mention as well that can be thrown in the mix.

Any of those will work. To me Cox takes a little more air to run.

Be hard to beat a KP or Cox. Just my opinion from playing some of all that you mentioned.

Any of those 4 would be interchangeable, but getting a hold of any of them is becoming harder and harder.

The prices for any of those 4 have gotten sky high too

In my opinion, its what runs best for each individual so it's a hard question to really answer.  That said, I think KP's is probably the easiest to run for me personally followed by Buice.

My respect and money goes to the old man from Georgia, who has been building them the longest.

All are great calls and it really doesn't make much difference which one you choose but I'd take the Prudhomme if I had to take just one

I have killed a bunch of birds with my  Prudhommes as well as with my KPs. It comes down to what you can draw the easiest and most consistent on. I would take a Kp or Prudhomme , either would satisfy me. I am fortunate to have several of each. Billy makes a fine trumpet and I have a couple. They kill birds just fine but are not the top pick for me. I have killed birds with them but prefer others. Anthony Ellis makes top end turkey killers as well. I have Cox trumpets but they are my least favorite. Again it's what fits you.

There are many callmakers out there that have great calls that have called more birds to the gun than the ones mentioned. Ralph Permar, Herb Hornstra, Marlin Watkins, Steve Lumma, Rev. Zack Farmer, Frank Hegler, original Tom Turpin, Inman Turpin, Dave Hodgkins, Ernie Fetters, Parker Whedon yelpers, etc. Evidently, some haven't had the privilege of using some of the calls designed by the people that that I mentioned.  They design the calls to be put in the hands of someone that can use it the way it was designed to be used and feel comfortable using them.

Pick a good trumpet and spend lots of time with it.

Nope.

Not an accidental omission by any measure.

Everyone  sale me the Cox calls at a reasonable price( due to you not liking the call, or the person who made it at a reasonable $)Since they are  not any good , there shouldn't be a premium on them...
Sounds reasonable, and I won't resale a single one of them.

Frank told me anyone who ever  got a trumpet from him  before would not get another one.
He said he is only making trumpets  for a new client .
This was 2 weeks  ago.

How do you know this?

Once again how do you know?

They design the calls to be put in the hands of someone that can use it the way it was designed to be used and feel comfortable using them.
And Buice doesn't?!! And Kenny doesn't? :z-dizzy: And Prudhomme and Cox? Etc....
