I'm shooting a Remington 870 express super mag with a Mad 1002 choke tube with .665 constriction. Is this sufficient for shoot federal TSS #9 shot?
You have to shoot a couple rounds through that particular choke your using and go from there. Take pictures of your targets at 20 yds then 30 yds and finally 40 yds. Post the pics on here and these fine hunters will let you know about your shots. Their good people on here Ive taken their advice a time or two and it was to my liking they know what their talking about. :firefighter:
Honestly, it's somewhat difficult to get a bad pattern out of TSS simply because of the sheer amount of pellets (in comparison to lead)
But some do shoot much better than others. You'll have to shoot it to see how it performs. If you only have a handful of shells, 40 yards is the common yardstick used for comparing turkey patterns.
You could go on your choke manufacturer's site and find what they recommend by either a chart or calling customer service. Even still sending some loads down range will confirm what you want to know.
