Trumpets / Wingbones Forum / Re: Trumpet Calling Competitio...Last post by misfire - Today at 08:03:06 AMThere used to be a competition in Nashville called Champion of Champions. To be eligible, you had to have won the GNCC and each contestant was to use 5 different calls in that competition, with Mark Prudhomme and Kerry Terrell using a trumpet in that event to win Champion of Champions.

Daily Devotional & Prayer Requests / Walk with GodLast post by misfire - Today at 07:59:25 AMEnoch walked with God.
Genesis 5:24 What does it mean to walk with God? There's a clue in Hebrews 11:5: "By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, 'and was not found, because God had taken him'; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God." Recommended Reading: Genesis 5:21-24 To walk with God is to please God, and we please God by trusting Him with our troubles. Hebrews 11:6 says, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." As we worship this powerful God we know, we should be encouraged in our walk with Him. We should come to know God better—His omnipotence, His holiness, His ever-present nature, His faithfulness and truthfulness, His justice and love. By coming to know Him better, we trust Him more. By trusting Him more, we please Him. By pleasing Him, we walk with Him as Enoch did. Is there a burden you need to entrust into God's care? Do it now, trust Him fully, and enjoy walking with Him through the ups and downs of life. #5
Daily Devotional & Prayer Requests / Facing impossibilitiesLast post by misfire - Today at 07:58:38 AM"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Isaiah 41:10 Many years ago, when my wife and I lived in Houston, Baylor University had a great football team. They absolutely stormed through the Southwest Conference that year. But late in the season, the Baylor players were discouraged by a shocking loss to an unranked team. Their hopes for a great season were further threatened because they were scheduled to play perennial powerhouse Arkansas the following week. So, Baylor's head coach pulled out a secret weapon. He invited a former team member, one that had been paralyzed in a freak football accident earlier in the season, to speak to the discouraged players. This player sat in a wheelchair before them as they gathered in the locker room before the game. First, he thanked his teammates for their prayers and support as he faced his ordeal. Then, referring to their loss the week before, he declared, "Guys, you've got to turn a setback into a comeback." With that bold declaration, he slowly rose from the wheelchair and took a step forward, to the shock and amazement of his teammates. Amidst cheers and tears, they ran out onto the field and whipped the tar out of Arkansas. Those Razorbacks didn't know what hit them! They didn't know that they were the victims of Baylor's secret weapon - turning what seemed impossible into victory. What "impossibilities" are you facing today? God's power and strength are available to help us all turn an impossibility into a victory. After all, the "impossibility" of the cross was followed by the "victory" of the resurrection!
