I'm looking for feedback on who makes a good one sider and what wood combo. Many thanks
Ed Terenfenko snakewood chestnut one sider is one of my favorite boxes I own.
Another great one I have is from Josh Farley purpleheart over red cedar one sider, Josh owns that combo it's a stellar call.
Got a couple of Tim Clayton one siders that are awesome as well but I think he isn't building anymore.
TJ is making a killer based off Dawkins design and hybrid fiddle on the list for one now he has a soundfile on his Facebook page it sounds awesome.
Dawkins is another great one don't have one but it's on my list to get one.
Jeff Lacey at shag hill calls just started making em Derek Tereza has a soundfile of Jeff's call on Facebook I ordered one 2 minutes after listening to it poplar purpleheart,
Allen Jenkins is making a killer old school based off Lynch design as well mahogany walnut.
Marlin Watkins makes some nice sounding ones, I got to play with a few of them at Turkey Trot Acres back in August and hope to get one from him now.
On this subject I can't say enough about the Tony Quarino one sider,,got this call a few months ago and was blown away,,never had a call this easy to play yet with a fantastic yelp and purr.and the cost was barely anything
Actually will cause me stress in the spring because I want to use my pricey and pretty calls but I don't know that I can knowing I have this one.
Thanks for the replies.
Don't over look center screw one-sider from T J Johnson. Matt Fulkerson is making new type one-sider that's awesome. Also the ones mention in the post make some awesome calls ...
I would also throw in Mike Lapp, Pat Strawser and Jeff McKamey for one siders.
SS should be added to this list.
Does anyone have a phone number for Tony Quarino? Thanks
Sent you a pm
Take a look at the Southern Belle from Cody. Made from heartwood pine, it is one of the only boxes I carry. Plays soft, sweet yelps. Can cut real good too. The sound is fantastic.... You won't be disappointed....Like most Cody Calls, it's all turkey.
Just received my Tony Quarino zebra wood/ Mahogany one sider. It is a great call in both quality and sound. Like others have said before me .... Tony is a great guy to deal with and his one sliders are worth looking into.
Glad you were able to get one you like.
One sider can play some pretty tunes

What are some of your favorites Greg, callmakers and combos I mean?
I just got one in from Tony. It has a clear young hen sound. Nice call.
Heres my single lady from Pat Strawser. He won the single side category at nationals this year. There may be some as good as his but none better. https://youtu.be/hx6Z7HHmPGo
Strawser single lady
Mike Lapp
Just got a great Purple Heart/cedar one sider from Josh Farley. I asked Josh for what he thought was a good combination in his one sider- and he didn't disappoint. He has some pictures and sound files on his Facebook call page. He is a great guy to deal with

I just received one as well. Like jrinny just said great guy and a awesome call.
Tony Quarino Gabon Ebony/ Holly. Hands down
Jeff McKamey Canarywood/butternut
Josh Farley and Jeff White have been making some nice one-siders. All 4 of these guys are great callmakers. And they are all great people, which to me has a lot to do with buying a call.

I just got one from Matt Fulkerson in apple with a bloodwood lid. There are 3 hens on that one side. This is one of those calls you just can't put down. It's a killer.

Matt Fulkerson most definitely makes a KILLER one sider. I picked up a ironwood over teak one sider from him at Unicoi. Can't put it down. It will DEFINITELY be in my vest this spring. Incredible sounding box.
I have a bit of a one sider collection. Jeff McKamey, Lapp, Shoemaker, Harrison just to name a few. But my go to is still an old Dave Tyree purple heart over poplar. Has called in more birds than any other call I own. Don't know if he still makes them. But it's a killer. Ryan
I really appreciate the input that I received on here. Good luck this spring!
I picked up a Purple heart / Poplar one sider at Nationals from Jeff Lacey , spent a fair amount of time with him and Clay Townsend. ( Shag Hill calls ) both are Great Guys and make some real good calls respectively . I have S&S , Lapp , Darrin Dawkins and now a Shag Hill one sider. All are very good .
Josh Farley one sider. His cedar is awesome..also Dave tyree makes an outstanding one sider. Daves phone number is 715-559-6363.. he's in Missouri. Get on his Facebook an listen to those slate sound files..best I've heard..his box calls will talk true turkey
