Title: 28” barrel question
Post by: slave601 on May 08, 2023, 10:22:53 AM
I have a benelli sbe2 with a 28" barrel. I run an Indian creek .665 in it with apex 3 1/2" 9s. I've tried other loads as well. With this being said I don't have that great of patterns out of any load I've ran through it. With it being a 28" barrel is there a rule of thumb on tighter or more open constrictions. I think I had read somewhere on here a while back longer the barrel open the choke a little more? I may be wrong. Maybe someone can chime in

On my BPS, I had to open it up with that length barrel.

That's kind of what I figured

I would definitely open it up....
I shot that same setup. And I ended up going back to the choke that came with the gun and got better results.

I'll try an Indian creek .670 if I can find one.

I run a ST .675 in my 28" Beretta (same bore diameter as your Benelli) and get great patterns (345/10 with 1&5/8 oz TSS 9 handloads).
