Can you drill and tap a 301 NON turkey model for red dot? I took it to a local gun shop and they said wall is too thin. Dangerous. I searched around online not alot of info. I know turkey model has a welded lug . Any validity to this? I don't know much about working on guns. Just a hunter
I sure hope so. I just bought a 301 20ga compact and plan to put a fastfire on it...
I've never handled one and have not taken delivery on mine yet but i did ask someone else who has one if there was enough meat to mount a fastfire base and he said there was. I guess we will see when i take delivery...
It sure be a shame if you couldn't drill
Found a video of a guy with one on YouTube that had Sumtoy put a fastfire base on his. I don't know which model 20ga 301 it was but can't imagine the chamber end of the barrel is any different between the various models. So if my local gunsmith won't do it, hopefully Sumtoy will. And heck, if he won't, I'll probably just find someone to weld it to the barrel
Mine came with a pictanny mount already on it from the factory. So I am assuming you can drill and tap them

Yes the turkey model came with rail on it . Standard model dosent. Turkey model has some kind of base welded on to it .
