Marlin Watkins PaddleCall, Canary Wood and Yellow Poplar. Marlin carried this call for a season. This a great sounding call and is in excellent condition.
260 TYD. Thanks

That bears repeating, an inescapable aspect of the learning curve. A new caller doesn't know until they know.

It's so special hunting with your kids.   I have two boys that turkey hunt (23 & 16).   Those are my favorite hunts every year.  Now they want to go on their own and leave dad behind.  Fun watching them become men.

Thanks for the recognition!  I was beginning to put a lot of pressure on myself to get one for the team and I'm so glad he ended up being as big as he was.   He may be my heaviest bird ever.

Thanks everybody and congrats to us all!!!  Can't wait to do it again next year!!!

20 Gauge Turkey Guns / Re: Rossi Poly Tuffy 20ga

I'm seriously considering one, a part broke on my sa20 so I toted my SBE2 which is only a lb heavier and was shocked at the difference.

A 4lb 20 ga sounds amazing other than recoil, .410 seems to finicky and the close up patterns are small.

If they come out with 28ga I'm all over it!

Quote from: Kyle_Ott on May 11, 2024, 07:23:30 PMI cannot imagine waiting until the last second to take the safety off.

As soon as a turkey gives me an indication he's closing distance or I suspect he may be sneaking in silent I take my safety off and rest my trigger finger on the side of the receiver.

It's a situational decision for me that may result in the safety being off for 1 minute, 5 minutes or 45 minutes.  As long as the gun is pointed in a safe direction, you're in a static position and your finger is isolated away from the trigger, there isn't a safety issue.

To each their own, though.

This is pretty much how I approach taking my safety off. I've never liked the idea of having a perfect shot, squeezing the trigger and have nothing happen because it was still on. But I don't take the safety off until I see him or he's on his way and the finger stays outside the guard.

I hunted mine for several season with the factory turkey choke, did well but an Indian Creek .555 and Patternmaster CBT are leaps and bounds better!

Primos tightwad slight improvement.

All shot with hand loaded 1 5/8th oz of 9 and 9.5, one of Hals loads.
