Title: horseshoes, h@nd grenades and nuclear warfare
Post by: misfire on March 24, 2014, 06:22:33 AM
Came close guys, still scratching my head.  Saturday I hunted hard. Couldn't quite get close enough to really get in the game. Around noon, got a single gobble several hundred yards away. Had a huge Swamp between me and the bird. He would gobble occasionally. Made a move on him and hit him with a copper call. Bam!!! Next thing I know two birds fly over the Swamp and land on the road in front of me about 80yds away. One pops in to strut and they start walking up the road. There is a pile of trees over to the left from an earlier clearcut. For some reason both birds went behind it and walked off. Had a decent shot at 60yds but I don't hunt that way. Oh well, God blessed me anyhow when my son killed a good bird all by himself for the first time. :happy0064:
