This thread is a special one to me. I joined this great forum several years ago. I didn't know anyone on here, I just felt after visiting as a guest that I really would enjoy being a part of this great fraternity of the greatest Turkey hunters in this country and abroad. Shortly after becoming a member, a guy reached out to me. His name is Greg Massey. As you know, Greg is pretty much a pioneer here, has been a member for many years and is a fine contributor. He reached out to me unsolicited to offer contact information on one of our loyal call builders. We started regularly communicating on various Turkey related topics, he has a wealth of knowledge he is more than happy to share. Fast forward, a few weeks ago we were talking, and I mentioned that I had a Dixon vest that I reluctantly sold well before the "boom". I knew he regularly visited the NWTF convention and told him I would be more than willing to pay him to possibly pick me up a Fox Vest. He told me he wasn't going this year, or he would. Last week, I got a call from him, and he told me that him and his wife visited the Mossy Oak event, waited on line, and were lucky enough to get 2 numbered vests. He asked me if I would like one of them, of course I jumped at the chance. He sent me a picture of the receipt for the exact amount, plus shipping. We all saw what people were getting for these vests, he told me his intent was not to make one cent off this vest. I've never even met him in person! I asked him, Why Me? He said "I could tell you were sorry you sold the Dixon, and that getting one of these would mean so much". Wow, he spent days driving, standing on line in the cold with his wife and got me a vest, along with the event brochure and line card. Today, it came in the mail. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to thank him and his wife for their selfless act of kindness, I am proud to call them my friends....be safe
That was nice!!!!

That was nice!!!!
Thx, it was much appreciated for sure.
So how much you want for it? I jest.
Turkey hunters are generally good folks!
With all the hype and drama about this vest.
This is what it should have been all about.
Amen my brothers......
Greg Massey is a good old boy's and like you Tom he reached out to me and we talked turkey for a while. I don't know I might have reached out to him, but we became friends.
He has a wealth of knowledge and is always ready to share his experience or a story. It doesn't surprise me that he went out of his way to get that vest for you Tom, that's just the kind of guy he is.
The only thing bad I could say about Greg is after our talks and some recommendations about calls I am now a collector. Thanks Greg! Oh wait you are also responsible in part for my addiction Tom.
We have some great members who are willing to share information, advice or will do things for others without asking.
One of the many reasons this forum is the best around!
That's awesome
Great post Great friends Great forum Doesn't get any better than this.
This is what it is all about!!!

What a great story and gesture. Proves there are good people in the world. Tom thank you for sharing sure made my day,
Class shows. Good stuff.
Great gesture there!!
Congrats on the vest. That is what friendship is all about! People helping people out when they can! I guess us hunters were brought up right.
This is great to see and congratulations on the new vest!
Greg also helped me and reached out privately to both help me choose the right call and to wish me the best when I picked it up. It's nice to see that there are still people like this in the world....
Awesome.
Class act!
What a fine pair of fellows. Good post.

That was incredibly nice of him.
Well done. Some people still value the simple things in life (like a friendship) more than a profit. And I'm sure that street runs both ways with the two of you. Again well done. Good people doing good things.
I appreciate all the kind thoughts.....
Of the guys on this forum, I've talked to you,Tom, and Greg outside of the forum. You taking the time to reach out and send me photos of the Sitka turkey vest and Greg and I have had several different conversations on this and that. I was just telling Greg the other day that I need to give you a call when I get more than a couple of minutes of free time. Both of you men are top notch in my book!.

Your a major contributor just like everyone on our forum. Helping each other out with advice and knowledge is the reason why I get on the forum as much as I can. I know for a fact you all have made me a better sportsman and Turkey hunter, and yes added to my close circle of friends!
Great story! That is just one of many examples of how great this forum is. Great group of folks we have on here.

Mighty nice of him.
Good on Greg !!!
Well played !! :icon_thumright:
That's a level of generosity that's uncommon. I don't care how the world defines winner, that's the actions of a winner.
Greg is a good guy. I text back and forth and pm him from time to time. Congrats on the vest and it was very good of him to sell you that vest for what he paid for it. Stand up move on his part.
I agree with all the kind words you have for Greg. He deserves these kudos ten fold. I told him today to thank his wife again for standing in 37 degrees with a rugged bunch of fine Turkey hunters all night long for me. It's one vest per customer, she was my liaison, I would not have it without her. A huge thanks for that sacrifice. One things for sure, the vest will never be sold, I'll never forget they way I was fortunate enough to own it!
Pretty cool, kudos to Greg and it sounds like his wife was the most important part. Very classy.
It doesn't get much better than that!! As others have said, there's more to the vests and many of us understand that. I've never chatted with Greg, but he always comes across as good people, just like Tombo!! Congratulations on your new vest buddy! Kudos to Greg and the Mrs. for helping you out!!
Greg and YOU are among the finest people , the sheer amount of quality people and friends I've made here , like the rest of you fine people ...is unreal
Thank you guys for all you do !!!!
That is a story that speaks volumes to what this project has become.
#MoreThanAVest
Always great see someone do something great for nothing in return :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
Can't add anything more than what has already been said in these comments. They all just demonstrate the quality of the folks that have gathered here as turkey hunters from across the country that share the same passion. :icon_thumright:
I have a number of local friends who, from time to time when I tell them about stuff going on here, ask me why I hang out on an internet forum? Simply put,...this thread clearly demonstrates the reason why.... :)
Congratulations on your vest. Of all the things we value in life, friends can be one of the things we take for granted. Greg just proved why we should not forget their value. I have also reached out to Greg many times offline ; he has always been very gracious with his help. Truly a class act.
Awesome story Tom, thanks for sharing. Brotherhood of turkey hunters on this forum is very strong. Most of you "Legacy guys" are the reason I joined after sandbagging a few years. Safe and Happy Successful season to all!
A true act of selfless kindness. Kudos to Greg and his wife. Congratulations Tom and Greg for getting a great piece of turkey hunting history. Best of luck on a safe and successful season.
Jesus said it best, "It is more blessed to give than to receive"
That's great to hear.
Thanks everyone for all the kind words. It was an honor in doing this for Tom. I wouldn't trade the experience and memories the wife and I made at the event for anything. It was priceless in the people i got to meet and NEW friends i made at the Mossy Oak Event. This was truly a bucket list highlight of my life. I only wish i could have gotten everyone on the forum a Fox Vest. I agree with everyone, this forum has created a lasting relationship over the years with so many of YOU. Thanks again everyone and good luck this Spring... Thanks again Tom for the kind WORDS. If anyone ever needs my help I'm here for you my friends.. God Bless
Another fine example of why being a member of OG is worth the price of admission.
Nice

About as good as it gets right there! I've chatted with both Greg and Tom007 online and they're fine fellas. They have to be to put up with my long-winded, overly-detailed messages.

This does my heart good. I am quite cynical and these brief glimpses of kindness and selflessness give me hope for the human race. Thanks Greg and Tom for being good humans. Z
That is great Tom congrats on the vest and a very classy thing to do Mr. Massey!
