I purchased some blended TSS a while back, mainly because ammo offerings at the time were limited. What's the point of having blended TSS sizes? A balance between hard-hitting penetration and more shot in the pattern. Does the larger shot provide a little more effective distance?

Some claim blends pattern tighter, large shot on top of small shot, placing the small shot on top would open the pattern.
I have been considering an 8.5 and 9.5 blend.
As far as hard hitting anything smaller than 9 the pattern is likely to fall apart before the effective penetration basically.
Anything larger than 9 I meant.

Testing shows 9s from a 20ga are a lethal setup just beyond 70yds. That's where the energy becomes insufficient and the pattern is less than 100 in a 10" circle.
Duplexes can be neat i guess. Just IMO no reason to run anything other than straight 9s.
