Haven't turned too many Ringed Gidgee trumpets, but sure is a beautiful wood. This stuff comes from Australia and is one of the densest woods in the world.

Copper ferrule , can you see it with a copper mouth PEICE
Sharp looking trumpet, the copper is a good match
It'll surely be pretty sitting beside this one.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210606/f61a6ec33b21d8f7bae8a29db0e79cce.jpg)

Thanks Terry....I had a connection that enabled me to get this Ringed Gidgee directly from a gent in Australia many years ago. Wish I had more, but of my 15 or so blanks, they all have similar figure to this one.
beautiful
Another fine looking call, as stated, you find some might sexy pieces of lumbar.
Great looking call!

It's no easy feat finding some. I have tried myself and struck out everytime.

Another great looking call Greg
Maybe to pretty to hunt with, I would be so paranoid about breaking, would end up in display case. Great job on another fine trumpet.
Have looked for a blank of the Ringed Gidgee. It is some beautiful stuff. Seems like every piece I come across is either too small for a call or a piece longer than one call but too small for two calls.
Very nice looking call!

Thanks......It was not easy to find/buy way back when, not sure what it would be like purchasing good stuff today. I am going to see if my contact is still selling blanks.

How big does a blank have to be for a trumpet?

Guess it depends on the builder and his finished specs, I like to start with 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" x 6 1/2", but could go slightly smaller if need be.

Greg is right but the usual answers is 1.5 x 1.5 x 6. That give the builder room to work but much larger you get a lot of waste. I have had one builder that says 1.25 x 1.25 and he is good.
Thanks for the reply's fellows.

Beautiful call Greg.
Thank you sir....and thanks for all the compliments guys.
I was able to chat with my Aussie logger contact, looks like he will be able to get me some more Ringed Gidgee blanks once he returns from the bush. His stock was excellent last time, not sure when I will get them, but good chance I will....Woohoo
That is awesome news for sure!
