I've been working on a 26" 20ga 870. I've gotten good 30yd patterns from the SSX with 3" Win double x #5s and Remingtom nitro turkey #5s.

I just bought a choke from Sumtoy for the Fed HWT shells.  Shot them amazing, but what I ended up finding out when sighting in the red dot on the 870 was that it shot lead very well also.

Patterned the Fed Turkey thug 5's really good at 30 and 35.   Since it was made to shoot the Flight control wad I'm gonna try and get some of the #6 lead mag shok with the FCW and see how they shoot.

Could end up with a 40 yard 20 gauge killer with lead

I have two of the 1187 Compact 20s.  The one I shoot has an SSX .550 and I shoot Nitro Hevi 4x5x7.  My son's has an IC .555 and he shoots Nitro Megaweights.  We don't get the numbers Nitro lists, but they are both 130'ish or so.  I haven't done any polishing and our patterning was done under less than ideal conditions (mid-40s with supposedly 10 mph winds that seemed a lot higher).  Both gun/load combos are proven, solid 40 yard killers.
