My personal favorite is maple, followed close behind by osage

Osage is nice to work with; I picked cherry because like a little grain in the wood. My favorite wood is Bubinga.

I also picked cherry. I've probably turned more cherry then anything else. I am really enjoying the mahogany that I have. I don't really have a favorite.

Need another selection.  I would use cedar for all calls.

It's a toss up for me. I really like both walnut and cherry, but in the end I chose walnut as my personal favorite. great looks, great to work with, and a great smell to boot.

I really like using black walnut wether i'm turning a pot, tube or building a box call. Very rarely have I not turned out a call that I just did'nt absolutly love from black walnut. Now dont get me wrong, I like some cherry too along with osage from the ones you had listed but for an ol' faithful......black walnut.

West Augusta

From that list, Cherry.
If I could make one addition it would be Black Locust.
No trees were hurt in the sending of this message, however a large number of electrons were highly inconvenienced.

You got any pics of the calls you made out of black locust.

Spring Creek Calls

For me, walnut. 3 out of the 5 calls I offer are all or part walnut.

Black locust is a really good choice.  I've made more duck calls with it than probable any other wood.

X3  Cedar is definitely turkey wood.  It consistently produces the best sound, to me.  I love my cedar boxes, strikers, and makes a good pot also.
