Who are some of the callmakers that makes one siders? Is there any advantage to having one?
Strawser makes one of the best with his "Single Lady" good luck getting one though.
Dawkins makes a pretty innovative one

yeah I tried but no luck. I'll pass on him.
Lamar Williams has told me more than once , if I hunt one just one season I won't ever go back to a 2 sided box , And I own and hunt a pile of his short boxes , long boxes and a couple of his handled boxes.
Josh Farley makes a mean one sider that is reasonable in price and not long of a wait.
I have one in purple heart and cedar that is a jam up box call.

If I were looking to get one in time for next season this is where I'd be looking. Josh makes a very good call.
Cody has a one sider with a hole in the box called a Holey. I have not tried one but it looks interesting.

I second that.
What's the best way to get one from Dawkins?
I got one from Strawser last year that's a dang good one. pernambuco/chestnut. brings in them bigguns
Ed makes a killer one sider, but his wait time is about one year out.

I second that. I got a one sider from him a few months back and they really dont come any better. Really friendly guy that will definitely put you on what your after. Wait time was around 6 months
heres one of them Dawkins single boxs my buddy has. Thing runs pretty strong to.
Marlin Watkins
To me one siders have the best sound. Paul Meek in Morton MS. makes a great one for around $50 to$60.
After hunting with Mr Lamar this season I immediately placed an order for a one sider. The one he was using was pure turkey!!!
this design really does make the most sense,,a hen which is a female so any conversation coming from a source like that is sure to be one sided,,,
Does anyone have contact info for Lamar. Is he on this site? I'm not really set up for face book. Also if you don't mind saying-what price range are his box calls.

Think he told me his one sider is $500.
Lamar makes a fine one sider. He don't make many though so you better get in line if you want one.
This Cypress one sider is a killer.
Another one to consider is TJ Johnson. He just starting making one that is a hybrid dawklns / fiddlebox design and he consulted Darrin before he started making them. There is a video of him running it on his facebook page and it sounds like a killer to me I just called him this week and got on his list for one.
I just got a snakewood chestnut from Ed Terenfenko and its an awesome call worth the wait and price.
I hope Darrin will have some at the Unico show I would love to try his.
As a right handed person would one of these work from the top or the bottom? I hold the box/sound chamber in my left hand and operate the paddle with my right hand with two sided calls. Thanks.
Iv seen these one siders for left or right handed Persons
I got a one sider from Tony Quarino that probably my favorite call

Nice hooks
Most box call makers I know, do not like making them and they charge more for them because of the time to make them. Not sure there is any advantage to a one-sider versus a regular box call. We all have our preferences.
I just opened my Tony Quarino one sider this weekend,,I own a nice selection of the need to know, must have call maker boxes but this Quarino one sider is the easiest box I've ever played has far has getting a nice sound. If your itching to try a one sider without spending alot give him a go.
